You have truly outdone yourself dras! <3 What a fabulous entry, you really captured the essence of the landscape and I love how the dark trees in the mid ground offset the horse to make him stand out. The detail is fantastic though and I can only try to encourage you to pick up the coloured pencils more often!

EEELL <3 Thank you so much :''D I feel like I've been through war and back xD This was so tough!! I dunno how you guys do it :''D I was so stressed I'd forget what colors I used in certain spots so I had a spare sheet of paper just listing the "recipe" to get the right color for each spot xD
I'm beyond relieved I was able to get the landscape to come across and not butcher your beautiful lands!! :''D I was so happy there was some backdrop I could work with or my boy might have just become one with the clouds xDD (although I quickly regretted that decision WITH ALL THE LEAVES. HNNNG. this is why digi artists invented tree and foliage brushes...)
I look forward to the next time you get me to drag out a sheet of paper and panic pencils. Who knows, maybe I'll have some other medium by then xD

This is absolutely breathtaking! I am amazed at how good the colors look here!
What brand/type of pencils are you using?
I use prismacolor premier colored pencils. We got the 150 kit when we had money to spare.
Now I am so cheap, I can't imagine spending more than $30 on a pack of quality art supplies unless
it's some irresistible deal lol.

I wish I could say I used some really nice brand or some fancy paper but i just used what i had laying around from years ago xD they're Sargent brand which you can get a 50 pack for $5 on Amazon...that tells you their quality right there x") and how cheap I am. So like even $30 would make me light headed xD there are a few stray Crayola pencils mixed in there too lmao again...shows exactly the quality I had to work with.
Out of all of the pencils I had, really only a handful were even suitable colors to use :"D it was super challenging because to get one shade of color, I had to blend about three colors to come close to what I wanted xD 10/10 a horrible choice of pencils to try to do something way out of my skill set lololol
I envy your collection xD sounds amazing, from what I've been told!

It's been a long time coming to see these two again, I love the story Dras & Saoradh <3
I love love everything and DRAS you did a wonderful job at the artwork, honestly traditional can be so hard and unforgiving, I'm glad you found a scanner that worked for you

YAAAAASSSSS <3 What a reunion of these bois <3 omg it's been so long! But like long enough to make it so satisfying to see them together again! Warms my little heart <3
Er, well, breaks it a little because sad things for Tristan but...BUT HE IS HOME NOW.
-sniff- Thank you so much :''D I stressed so much about starting this project. Being a predominately digital artist and years of it, this was just so brain melting to go "okay. now...make the color." And not have multiple layers pile up to make the color I wanted! I just HAD TO KNOW WHAT COLOR TO USE!???! It was absolutely terrifying :''D
I'm just relieved I found something to use. I had never had the feeling of "I have this art I want to show people but I don't have a way to show them..." before. It was really heart breaking until that blessed old scanner saved the day! It lives in my room now xD

I DUNNO! I had no idea how to even go about most of this xD I colored the grass how I start it digitally and hoped for the best xD One hunk of color at a time, zig zags, lots of tiny little lines and such because I dunno how else to do grass lmfao I got to it and was like "ohno. There's no brush tool for this. I am the brush. OHNO." xDDD
LESSONS LEARNED lololol
THANK YOU <3

Omg so many! I thought I had tons to choose from but they were all brightly colored and super obnoxious xD I was lucky I even had one green to work with lololol but mine definitely aren't the best quality lol probably got them on sale during "Back to School" sales XD I bet yours are so much nicer!!
But I dunno if I can do another one of these! So much strain on my poor brain! This might be my one shot wonder lmao

YOU GET BACK OUT HERE :''D
You know you were one of the driving forces that pushed me to try this! I just go and visit your art, drooling over how smooth and well-blended everything is <3 A skill I painfully lack xD But I admire how much effort and work you have to put into these things! I think I can understand the struggles and the merriment a little better now. So, thank you, for being an inspiration to try something so scary to someone like me! If it hadn't been for the "TRADI TRADI TRADI" chant squad, I doubt I ever even would have thought I could!
Thank you for being an inspiration and trying to help me when I came sobbing at your feet when things were going so wrong :''D I really appreciate it! <3

IT'S HEEEEEERE! Been in the plans for a long time now :''D FINALLY! I have survived through it! Had no idea the worst part was starting the thing and uploading the thing! PHEW!! I've learned my lessons xD This was a lot of strain on my artistic skills that are, quite frankly, limited in this field! So I dunno if there will ever be another full traditional Dras special or if this is it xD Maybe in another medium! But thank you so much!!! :''D I wanted to give it a good, honest try! <3

OMG THANK YOU :'''D I've never done anything like this before! It was tough xD I'm so used to being able to zoom in for digital art and just add more details. This was like...welp...that line will have to do to represent a tree branch xD Can't texture and single pixel shade that! xDD I really just tried to break up the foliage into as many shapes as I could to make it look fluffy and stuff :''D The more breaks, the more complex it looks to the eye, right? When in reality, it's just a mess of colors xDDD

SofiesDrawings In reply to Drasayer [2019-07-26 11:38:19 +0000 UTC]
Haha yeah me too. I have tried making full detailed traditional pieces but they do not end up looking too good. I also want to hit undo on the tradtional pieces, and then I realize I can't XD
Yeah I usually try to devide things into sections and shapes as well but I usually get too impatient and it turns into a bloppy mess of colours

Lmfao or try to use the select tool to fix a piece of anatomy or move a hunk. Omilord xD has definitely taught me the "...eh. just ignore it. Too lazy to redraw everything" lololol
Definitely takes a lot of patience! The man trees up close took sooooo long in comparison to everything else. Probably even longer than coloring my pony xD I just tell myself mentally "you're only doing a tree today" and that helps to keep me from rushing it. Kind of seals my fate that I need to spend a few hours on doing just a tree.

SofiesDrawings In reply to Drasayer [2019-07-29 13:43:56 +0000 UTC]
OMG same! I nearly always start out making the head to small and digitally I can just make it bigger, but with traditional you can't xD
Yeah I tend to also spand the making of a detailed piece over a couple of days so I don't loose patience
But sometimes when the piece is somewhere between timeconsuming and quick to make, I tend to try to rush it, to make it quick to make.
