I agree, most of the time, dragons dont take off but dive at first.

Love this, but I think the wings are a little too large. They have to be big enough to support the creature but not so big it makes it nearly impossible to get off the ground! Size is less important than many think - strength plays a role too. Albatross have the largest wingspan of any bird and they have a hard time taking off, and then glide around rather than making sharp turns. It's a fine line x3

It also depends on the angle that I did this. The body is near horizontal while the wings are vertical. The wings are large but not grossly large.

The wingspan is simply too large, no matter what the angle is. I'm not trying to put you down - just trying to give some concrit.
