Dragons are, by design, mostly wings. At least MINE are. Here is a prime example. Small body with a huge wingspan. Large wings makes them capable of speed and accuracy during flight.This particular dragon, just a random one for a change, is no exception. Also note how the wings come into his body. His body is contorted with his flight. Actually, with the length and flexibility, a dragon can contort the length of their body to 360 degrees. Which means the head can be looking thru to the next curve while the tail is finishing out the last all while the wings guide the body thru the curve.
Anyho, random dragon flies in a chasm, wings brushing rock and water. This version here, a photo, is better than the scanned version as my scanner did not pick up the highlights. Pencil drawing, 6 hrs.

I saw the comments about the wingspan and wanted to get my own comments in. 
This picture is great, it looks almost realistic!
Most other dragons I know have large wingspans, like me. So that part is fine. What most people here don't get is we don't normally take off from level ground. Its always downward from a cliff or hill rise, and then up; never straight up like the birds here. So our wings are designed in a completely different category. What you've drawn here looks awesome.

Love this, but I think the wings are a little too large. They have to be big enough to support the creature but not so big it makes it nearly impossible to get off the ground! Size is less important than many think - strength plays a role too. Albatross have the largest wingspan of any bird and they have a hard time taking off, and then glide around rather than making sharp turns. It's a fine line x3

It also depends on the angle that I did this. The body is near horizontal while the wings are vertical. The wings are large but not grossly large.
