Part 1 of a two part Gacha comic I made for my awesome friend MissJulyFarraday of her Once Upon A Time/Wreck It Ralph crossover A Kingdom Called Sugar Rush. In this AU, Sugar Rush is not a video game, but a magical kingdom, and Turbo was a racer from our world that got sucked into it due to a portal mishap caused by Vanellope's now deceased mother Candice. Candice and Turbo became friends, and Turbo did genuinely care for her, but when it was revealed Candice was dying and Candice assigned him to become regent until Vanellope was old enough, both despair and ambition got the better of Turbo, and he didn't help Candice when she needed him most(getting her the potion that slowed the progression of the sickness and stopped her coughing.) While she had only a few days at most, Turbo still felt the guilt weigh on him, and then Hades came to him with a deal. Kill Vanellope so he could get the last remaining Von Scheetz soul and he would help Turbo become permanently king. But Turbo couldn't go through with it and just sent Vanellope away to a faraway kingdom, becoming King Candy on his own.

When Vanellope came back, not knowing who she was, King Candy panicked, and like in the movie would not let her race and treated her horribly, as her name would show up on the racer's trophy if she won, exposing his lies. Henry saw Vanellope's story and wanting to help her and discover what being an Author means, transported himself to her world without Emma or Regina's permission. He met and befriended Vanellope, and when Emma and Regina came to the world and met her too, they agreed to help.

After some struggles, Vanellope made it into and won the race, and between that and Emma's investigating, King Candy was found out and imprisoned. As King Candy thought of what he'd done and his past, his backstory came up in Henry's book, and Henry suggested to Vanellope to talk to King Candy. She wasn't sure about it but eventually agreed, and it did indeed help both her and King Candy to heal. Vanellope ended up pardoning him, and they lived in the castle together with King Candy acting as Vanellope's guardian and teaching her how to rule a kingdom. While things were more than a little awkward at first, the two ended up getting closer and bonding.

At one point, Vanellope went to her mother's grave with a bouquet of cotton candy flowers, and King Candy, realizing she was gone, went searching for her, worried about her safety. Vanellope apologizes for worrying him, and after talking about how much Candice had loved the cotton candy flower fields, Vanellope asks King Candy to tell her more about her mother, which he does.

When they went to the castle afterwards, Vanellope happily said she was glad her mom had a good friend like King Candy, and overcome with guilt, he told her the truth about her mother's death. She(understandably) did not take it well at first.
