Description Here is a little tutorial/guide on how to do some cool effects in watercolour, mainly useful for backgrounds but can be used for other things.

Anyway it was something to do and i've not done a tutorial before so excuse the poor layout and the spellings lol

Edit: Meant to say some of these effects will be effected by what paints you use and the paper. I used Winsor & Newton Cotman pan watercolour paints for this and 300 gsm hotpress paper. Different brands of paints will have a different amount of pigment which will most likely effect the Salt Trick, Water Drops and Plastic. Different paper will effect the drying time of the paint, especially if it isnt watercolour paper.

When using masking fluid, dip the brush in pure dish washing detergent, then use as normal. True you'll get some bubbles on your page, but they should do no harm and still protect the brush <3

thanks ...does the "plastic" one have a specific name?
(if i was to ask someone to make that for me what would i call it?)

Hi, the plastic i use are sandwhich/freezer bags, a really flimsy plastic that you can scrunch up easily, I hope this answers your question

You could use crayons for the second one which is also known as wax resist. draw stuff with the crayon, then paint over it. The paint will slide tight off.

I've been wondering why I kept hearing about salt in reference to water color

As a complete beginner at watercolor, myself, I can't say I knew any even basic techniques so this was pretty useful. The descriptions are clear and easy to understand, so you can rest assured that you at least helped one person ^_^ Nice job!
