Well I may have lost Marte's contest, but I've colored the piece my own damn self. (or darned self, sorry ma)It's 65% Marker color 35%Photoshop so I put it in traditional, but it was a bit of a toss up.

I'm not acquainted with what this is fanart for, but it's intense and that raging teddy bear cracks me up, great coloring job, I wouldn't have guessed any of it was done with marker, it's very precise!

Thanks. I work w/ markers a lot and this is my MOST Photoshopped marker piece. I find that the key to precice marker colors (aside from using prisma, design or letra's) is to color a xerox of your line art, so the line work always stays sharp.
... or if it's a rough design sketch done directly in marker, add the line work last - after building up the sketch in blocks of colors/tone.

love the colors and the teddy bear, not to mention the composition, but testsuo's gums are bothering me quite a bit, i think it look too much like he has red lips or lipstick on. i like it alot!

One thing I'm noticing with color work is how difficult it is to get the tone, hue, contrast, and levels looking good across a variety of monitors. I definitley see the redness issue on this one. I'm going to be cleaning up the background area soon, and I may tone the gums back too.

I have to say man - although it stings a little to hear criticism, no matter what - I rely on your comments. Your honesty really helps me know what's working or not. Some people might question how you can say something looks amazing and then say "but the background is more than a bit "meh"", but you are totally right - the black frame and grey border are ugly as turd (not to mention lazy and sloppy) and parts of the explosion look hasty. The fact you can adress it and still say how impressed you are with the rest means I can trust your praise. And so I thank you, for it is high praise indeed. I'll definitly see what I can do to touch up the BG sooner or later, though cause now I actually almost hate it for holding the rest back.
