Description I ran across an old picture of my nephew, Robert. We were on vacation and enjoying a campfire. That photo inspired this painting.

My husband says that this painting should be on the cover of "The Lord of the Flies."

These days Robert is full-grown and serving our country in the military.

 Thank you so much! This was one of those paintings where the colors seemed to choose themselves. It is quite different from the reference  photo.

This would indeed be very fitting for "The Lord of the Flies". I can only agree with the others about the great choice of colours!
The outlines, especially around the ears look a bit strange to me, but I guess thats how stuff in front of a fire looks like.

The glow just kind of… Seemed right… Before they were there it seemed a little flat.


Now I begin to think that I should have saved some intermediate versions to compare back to.

Mainly your lighting and your choice of colours. From the contrast of the blue and the purple to the tones you used in the fire; it's so eye catching and almost surreal. It is very magical! The only thing I'd maybe suggest is using softer lines for the eyes (but who am I kidding I suck with digital art), so other than that it's gorgeous!
