The Niss is a forest spirit that leads the souls to the afterlife. Yet, if a Niss doesn't show up on the deathbed of a person, that means that he might survive. So, Niss are not met with much joy. Although, there are also people, who welcome them. The Niss would purr for these people, and make sure that their pain fades away.
