This was a sketch I've worked on off and on for the last... ..maybe two or three months? (jeez, I HOPE it wasn't that long XD;; )

Akyana here is the classic case of how it is *probably* impossible for me to create a character and not have a backstory for them.
I created Akyana originally because I wanted to draw a demon/kitsune hybrid (yeah yeah, no fox tail~) character because I was bored one day, but the MOMENT I started fleshing her out, my mind started asking questions about WHY she was how she was, and as I answered those questions, entire storylines came into my head, and from that moment I had a new direction for the primary story I've been developing for years, as I lacked direction for where to take it after a point.

I warn you, her story is kind of dark and certainly not meant for children, but... ..here goes:

Akyana is essentially the sort of astranged (if not extremely cute? =3= ) creature you might find cooped up in some kind of crazy underground genetic splicing / chimera-creating lab.
In fact, Akyana was born and raised (..sort of) in such a lab. She was genetically engineered through choice splicing of creature races to serve a specific purpose, so in that regard she was essentially created to be a biological piece of lab equipment.
She was created by taking a catalogue of the genetics of the many various demon races in my story world, and the best of a very specific trait were spliced together to optimize a biological function, and the end result is Akyana and others of her kind.
It's like this: Akyana was born in a magic lab specialized in using artificial aging / forced maturity / rapid growth techniques to rapidly splice together genetic combinations to create specialized creatures. However, as they do not actually possess the technology to directly splice genes at the DNA level, they operate by using magic to forcibly age their creations over a short period of time, extract their reproductive cells (usually not destructively, as they try to reuse and recycle as much as possible) and mix genetics by mixing eggs of one race with the sperm of another, fertilizing eggs with the combination of the current created strand with the new genetics they wish to introduce. (which is egg and which is sperm doesn't matter)

As the geneticists found that forcibly matured fertilized eggs (read: eggs gestated into fully developed infants over a timeframe of a few days) developed MUCH more successfully if within a live host than within an inorganic growing vat (read: "test tube babies"), their first order of business was to create a proper gestating chamber for their creations: In other words: Akyana.

Akyana was created specifically of a mix that the geneticists found optimal for that purpose, and as a result, Akyana possesses a VERY flexible body capable of withstanding the rapid reproduction that they intended her for.

And so, they do use her for that purpose.

However, that isn't ALL that Life has in store for the poor Akyana...

I would like to make it clear that in no way am I glorifying the treatment Akyana has received in her short life thus far, or the actions of the scientists that created her. Her origins are meant to be tragic, but in that regard she is also meant to be someone who the audience can feel for and secretly hope things go okay for her eventually.

Ouch, poor gal, she's basically a living hatchery...

And your message got clear through, and I do hope things turn out for her eventually.

Also, question: She doesn't seem too sad in that picture. Why is that so?
