I took a shot at re-texturing an old Lancer-class mesh and this was the result. I think it's an improvement. I went with a more metallic representation, to match the revised Carrack. Some may disagree on that. This will hopefully show up in the DOF Star Wars shipset mod for Star Ruler 2 and the Star Wars: Interregnum mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.Original mesh artist unknown (possibly EvilJedi).

This one simple little ship, if the Empire had deployed in proper numbers, could have changed the entire course of the war. The Empire relied too much on big hulking destroyers and cheap mass produced fighters. But the Lancer was designed specifically to counter enemy star fighters, something the Rebellion and New Republic relied heavily on.
