1. The next day, Toby comes to Knapford to pick up some quarry workmen, when Philip introduces himself to him rather boisterously and asks Toby if he wants to have a race, and tells him about the race against Gordon.

2. Toby: I really didn't know what to make of that Philip. He's a very funny little engine.

Henrietta: He looked a bit like you, Toby. Small and boxy.

Toby: He doesn't look like me at all! He's green and yellow for a start and he never stops talking!
