Description One of my first complete works... In many ways I've yet to again match the contentment I felt for this work.

Done in Blender and PS. the background and mist is mostly PS, foreground is mostly Blender ;D

Indeed... Is there something I should know about?

No, it's just that when I first found out about blender, I was astounded by this piece in the blender gallery. Now, I've known about you for a while, and somehow I never knew that you made it. I'm going to assume you aren't the art director for Mass Effect.

Oh, haha. Well, thank you for the compliment! Also, no, I'm not the Bioware AD, but we do work in the same industry... small world ;D

Again, thanks for the interest!

Right, I've actually had confused people send me portfolios before. Actually, that's how I found out who he was in the first place.

Haha! Always good to hear from you. I know what you're saying, but this particular piece has had a good run on other sites. It's time for it to rest, I think. With any luck I'll be completing something else worth looking at very soon. Thanks again, mate.

Very, VERY well done! It annoys me you don't have as many views as this picture deserves. Love the vegetation and the detail put into to the robot thingy, also the lighting is very good.

Wow, I really appreciate that! I remember killing myself over this one to make a deadline, so it's nice to know the effort was worth it.
I looked at your gallery. You've got a great eye for color and light! Thanks for saying something, it made my day.

Uploaded almost a year ago and only those views and favourites? How can this be? O_o
You must have put so much effort on this one! It looks great! I think you should submit this to some groups in order to get noticed!

And I'd suggest you'd give some more info on your work's description, as to what softwares you used, for example

Congratulations!

I really appreciate the comment
I started this portfolio just to have a link to send to people wanting to see my work... it's only recently that I've gotten into the mode of sharing with other deviants I'll have to do some more, lol.

I've read things similar to your last suggestion a few places; I'm thinking that I should go back and edit the description. thank you very much for taking the time to write something thoughtful

Ahh, I see Well, myself, as a deviant, thank you for sharing, and hope you keep creating and uploading pictures like this one, as they are awesome and very inspiring!

You're very welcome, everyone who puts effort into giving usefulness to their talents should be recognized ^^

wow, that was about the nicest compliment I've gotten in a great while. Thanks... a lot. How did you come across this (if you don't mind)?

I appreciate it

I really can't remember, i came across your mothbiter piece and decided to explore your gallery.

You may be pleased to know that you have inspired me to download blender , Although i have never done 3-D art before, so ill probably be shocking.

dlax1 In reply to Goats-On-A-Boat [2010-09-16 14:53:57 +0000 UTC]

That's great! 3D can be very rewarding, as well as frustrating, lol. And blender is typically viewed as having a confusing interface... but if you put the time in you can really do just about anything you want with it.

I hope I'll be seeing some 3D from you pretty soon ;D

Thanks, ill be starting over the holidays.. Which is TOMORROW!, can you recommend any sites or books or anything to get me started?

dlax1 In reply to Goats-On-A-Boat [2010-09-16 19:35:04 +0000 UTC]

ok... blenderartists.org is my favorite forum. All the blender users I look up to post there and the blender devs lurk that site too.

blenderguru.com is an amazing tutorial site; Andrew Price does a great job of utilizing blender's good features in meaningful, easy to understand ways.

Blendernation.org(?) is the place to go if you want to see cutting edge activity in the blender community.

And the blenderwiki is the best reference material.

Honestly, you can't go wrong just googling stuff too. Have a great holiday!
