Description
Life ’s not about Money
Back in Radiator Springs, Sally was still crying. Everyone who lived in the town was standing around her house.
“Sally, come out of the house and we can talk.” Doc sayed.
“No, just leave me alone!” Sally sreamed.
“Sally if your not coming out, then will have to break the door open.” Doc sayed.
The door opened, Doc drove inside and then the door closed again. Sally was standing on her resting spot, Doc drove closer to her.
“Now tell me, what’s wrong?” he asked.
“I just got off the phone with Lightning.” Sally began.
“Yeah, i’ve been meaning to ask you that. Where is he?” Doc asked.
Back in Amsterdam, the race was almost about to begin. Lightning was already standing in the main corridor, Abrid followed him. Lightning didn’t pay any attention to him, but for some reason Abrid was looking at him for a long time now.
“You got a problem?” he asked.
“Shut up.“ Abrid sayed.
The first races were to decide who can join the official race, if Lightning could finish as number 3, or higher then that, he may join the race. If he is lower then 3, the race is over for him. There where almost a 100 cars who were racing in this race, and Lightning was one of them. They had to go around Amsterdam, and then back inside Amsterdam. The judge spilt the cars in 5 groups, because there where to many cars to have on one road. The race was about to start, Lightning was in the first group.
“Group 1, report to the start line.” the judge sayed.
The first 20 cars came to the start line, there were signs so they could see where they had to stand, the crowd went wild when they saw the cars coming out of the main corridor. Lightning had to stand next to Abird, who was standing behind 18 other cars. He looked at Lightning, and began to smile a little evil, but that didn’t scare him.
“Group 1, get ready to race.” the judge sayed.
“Don’t think you stand a change against me, red-wheels.” Abird sayed.
“We’ll see about that, fly-wheels.” Lightning sayed.
They looked at the judge who were about to say something, one of them drove to a tower that was standing right next to the start-line.
“We are pleased to begin the first races here in Amsterdam, as one of the judge, I am going to give you the start sign. All cars, start your engines!” he sayed.
All cars started there engines, you could here the groms coming from them. The judge car raised a white flag, all cars where looking ahead to plan a course. When the judge car began to swing with the flag all cars drove away, almost at the speed of light.
Back in Radiator Springs, Sally was planing on going to Amsterdam. The other cars in the town also wanted to go, but Sally sayed it was something between her and Lightning, Doc understand and drove Sally to the airport of Los-Angelos. When they got there, there was a plane that was leaving in 5 minutes.
“Good luck, Sally.” Doc sayed.
“Thanks...” Sally sayed.
She quickly drove inside the airport looking for the place where she could get tickets, she found it and drove to it.
“Can I have a ticket to Amsterdam, quickly please.” she sayed.
“You kids really don’t have any patience, do you?” the ticket-saler sayed.
“No I don’t, I have to get on a plane to Amsterdam, right now!” Sally sayed.
The ticket-saler quickly gave her a ticket by stamping her on the head, when she got it, she drove to the plane, and was on her way to Amsterdam. While she was at that, Lightning was already number 4 on the list of the lead cars, and the first was Abird. Lightning knew that he had nothing to worry about now, but he wanted to finish before Abird, so he drove faster. He was now next to the Amsterdam ArenA, the place where the head races were going to be held.
“Mack, how far am I from Abird?” Lightning asked via a mic.
“About 1.2 miles, you should see him now.” Mack sayed.
Lightning saw him, he was almost going back inside Amsterdam. He speeded up a little, because he really wanted to catch up with him, there were two cars who were driving right in front of him, he passed them and left them behind. He saw Abird going back inside Amsterdam, he was almost 500 meters away form him. He catched up with him and looked at him, Abird was looking at him to.
“Don’t think you can win from me, you may have catched up with me, but you’ll will never win this race.” Abird sayed.
“Maybe I don’t want to win this race.” Lightning sayed.
“You can’t fool me, your most likely doing it for yourself to enjoy having a lot of money!” Abrid sayed.
He began to drive faster, Lightning had a hard time catching up with him now. He was almost at the finish, he could already hear the crowd screaming for Abird. Suddenly he feld a lot of horsepower coming inside his engine, he got up to 240 MPH and catched up with Abird.
They were driving right next to each other now, and crossed the finish together, so the judge had to look at the photo-finish.
“And those were the first cars of Group 1, the cars who made it trough of the group will recieve a personal message tomorrow morning, and of course it will be in the papers and on tv.” another judge car sayed.
Lightning and Abird were both very tired, Lightning looked at Abird he was driving back to the main corridor, he followed him. Abird drove to his garage and closed the door, but Lightning stoped the door.
“What do you want?” Abird asked.
“What are you racing for?” Lightning asked.
Abird looked at him and then pushed the button of his door, but Lightning stayed under the door so it couldn’t close, Abird opened the door again and drove out of it.
“What is your problem? Just tell me what you are racing for.” Lightning sayed a little angry.
“You wouldn’t understand, and by the way if I told you, you would tell it to the press and the tv and all cars you come across.” Abird sayed.
“No! Look, just tell me what your racing for then it.....” Lightning began.
“My son....” Abird sayed.
Lightning got a little shock, he never had the idea that Abird would have a son, he wouldn‘t even thought he would have a wife.
“You have a son?” Lightning asked.
“Yes... I lost him 16 years ago, along with my wife. I know that they arren’t dead, it’s just that my wife took him away form me, because I didn’t took good care of him. And now i’m using money to search the world for my son.” Abird sayed.
“How did your son look? And what was his name?” Lightning asked.
“He was mixed with me and my wife‘s look, I can’t remember his name.” Abird sayed.
It was silence for a while, but now Abird wanted to know why Lightning was racing for the money.
“I want to start a family.” Lightning sayed.
“Why do you need so many money to start a family?” Abird asked.
“Well I....” Lightning began.
“Lightning, life’s not about money. It’s about having a good time, I thought the same thing, and that’s one of the reasons I lost my son.” Abird sayed.
“You told me you lost him because you didn’t took good care of him.” Lightning sayed.
“Yeah, but also because of the money. If you are wise you shouldn’t make the same mistake I did.” Abird sayed.
Lightning thought about it, but he didn’t want to disapoint Sally. And why would he make the same mistake as Abird? He’s not like him, and he just met him.
“I’m sorry, Abird. But I don’t want to be a bad father.” Lightning sayed.
Lightning drove back to his garage, Abird looked at him and knew that he would make the same mistake as he did.
