The "Grimoire of the Nether Pact" is a demonic magic book that serves as a bridge between the mortal world and the infernal depths. It is bound in the hide of a creature from the lower planes and its pages are said to be made from the desiccated flesh of fiends. The sigils and incantations within pulse with a dark energy, and the air around it crackles with eldritch power. This grimoire was created under a blood moon, infused with the essence of a demon lord's power, as part of an unholy alliance between a cabal of dark warlocks and the archfiends of the abyss.
Properties of the Grimoire of the Nether Pact:
Infernal Conjuration: The Grimoire allows the wielder to cast "Summon Lesser Demons" once per long rest without using a spell slot. The demons remain under the caster's control and do not attack the caster if they lose control over them.
Nether Insights: While attuned to the Grimoire, the wielder gains proficiency in the Arcana skill. If they are already proficient, they instead double their proficiency bonus to checks made with Arcana.
Fiendish Resilience: The wielder gains resistance to fire damage, as the Grimoire envelops them in the protective flames of the abyss.
Curse of the Grimoire of the Nether Pact:
Abyssal Thirst: The Grimoire requires the life force of others to maintain its power. Each time the "Infernal Conjuration" property is used, the caster must sacrifice a portion of their health, taking 2d10 necrotic damage that cannot be healed until the next dawn.
Whispers of the Damned: Every time the Grimoire is opened, the wielder hears the whispering of damned souls. This causes them to have disadvantage on saving throws against being frightened, as the haunting murmurs erode their mental fortitude.
