Description ... to a perfect day... We were treated to some truly great sunsets out there A bit of grain I know... But I didn't want to kill it with neatimage either. Captured at ISO 400 because I wanted to freeze the motion of the water. I wish I had a faster zoom *sigh*

The perspective is perfect. It leads the eye out into the sunset where the soul can drown in it. Wonderful

hehe I agree with newk.. it took me a while to see that grain you're talking about my love hehee
but once again, I love the underexposure so the sky isn't blown out.. I especially love the texture of the wood and the ragged cloth on the side, looking so abandoned and worn.
The foamy water once again catches my attention..especially cause I haven't seen such foamy water in a while, but it's thick foam really works for this shot as you have such a great expanse of water in the frame.
Everything turned out good and with the underexposure, to me it goes with your title.. like a closing to a day when everything is getting dark and soon you won't be able to see the beauty of the day anymore...

Lovely capture of the water. You've frozen it there just for a short time, long enough to capture it and it really does look great. I can almost feel the motion of the next movement of the water. The water also has a nice aqua colour to it out towards the horizon more. Beautiful.

Firstly, when devART went into read-only when I loaded this image, I realised how many people have longer signatures than comments...

Now, Kris, I'm glad you didn't brutalise and bastardise this shot in NeatImage, it's perfect as it is mate. The grain that is there (only slight, but still visible enough to be noticable to the eye after staring for about 5 minutes into the center of the shot) doesn't detract from the shot, nor does it leave it needing something more to make the viewer comfortable with it and actually feeling what you want them to from it. Rarely do I see a photo that you can have grain and still have such a crisp detail and feeling coming through nice and thick.

Also, I don't think a faster zoom would have done much to enhance the shot, if anything probably would have hindered the feeling and mood you've set by using a slightly slower zoom. I'm gonna call you used the 300mm tele on this, simply because of the perspective curve on the jetty/land extension? To me, it's got that kind of curve you get when you're using a longish focal length, say 20mm+? Either way, it's great as it is. Do yourself a favour and don't change something that is already spot on the money

This is the kind of thing I can imagine hanging on the wall of a seaside cottage or even moreso, my aunt's wall in her cabin on top of a mountain up here. Thick on feeling, thick on mood, thick on composition, very thin on flawing and errors. Any print coming of this? If not, you should do so

Now this I like. I'm not a great fan of sunsets/-rises, but the texture of the wood and rocks add something special to this. And the way the light warms up the surfaces. Beautiful.

Ooh! I like the foam on the waves... I can just picture it bubbling up and down. The composition is great too and I really like the wood and tattered fabric on the right.

ah, the futility of holding back the ocean. between the levee and the boats, the composition of this is wonderful. yeah and the sunset's nice too.

I love the textures of the wood, sea and rocks, though I feel the boats detract from the aesthetic value, and perhaps elevating the camera angle to remove the tiny tiny triangle of beach, bottom right?

I do do do love the textures, but I don't like those other things...
