Episode 17

Debut - Somazu, Led

Lilian is finally able to leave the hospital after having her brain scanned. She is greeted by Alan and Dr. Powell.

Alan: Well, look who's back.
Dr. Powell: How are you feeling, Lilian?
Lilian: Good. I’m jealous.
Alan: Because I got out of the hospital early?
Lilian: WHAT DO YOU THINK?!
Dr. Powell: You're both lucky you’re alive.
Lilian: Yeah..
Dr. Powell: So what's the report on your mind? I asked the doctors to scan you.
Lilian: My brain showed signs of stress, apart from bleeding from my nose when that Russian bastard attacked.
Dr. Powell: I talked to them. You're starting to reach the limits of your capability.
Lilian: So?
Dr. Powell: If you put more stress on your brain you may die.
Lilian: Well I'm fine now.
Dr. Powell: This is for your own safety. I strongly advise you keep your powers at a minimum.

Lilian just gets in the car, slamming the door

Alan: Touche.
Dr. Powell: She'll be fine. Just don't bring up her limits.
Alan: Lilian doesn't know her own strength.
Dr. Powell: That's what worries me.

When she gets home, she reads about psychics and their capabilities. Alan cooks dinner, although he is concerned about Lilian. After dinner, the two siblings decide to have a talk.

Alan: Hey Lil got a moment?
Lilian: Yeah, want you need?
Alan: Do you remember when you first learned you were psychic?

Lilian thinks back for a moment. She remembers her mother talking about it in a flashback.

Lilian: I'm pretty sure Mom wrote about it, when I was moving blocks as a baby. I don't remember if I got it from her. I might have.
Alan: I'm not sure. Unless Mom was keeping something secret.
Lilian: Then it asks more questions than it gives answers.

Meanwhile, in Russia, Dr. Yuri is experimenting with Wels catfish, intent on creating regenerative tissue.

Tiana: What are you planning?

Dr. Yuri doesn't reply.

Tiana: Dr. Yuri, is everything alright?
Dr. Yuri: Not now.

She leaves worried. Deep down, Tiana is beginning to wonder whether she is doing the right thing. She shakes it off and checks on latest wolf mech, Led.

Tiana: Now just to wait until the last one is complete. Is it ready for activation yet?
Engineer: Yes, ma'am.
Tiana: Good, let the alpha and beta out. The omega is nearly complete, but isn't ready to run with the pack yet. Fire and ice should be a nice combination.

Ogon and Led are released for a test run. The wolves go exploring Then they return after a few short hours.

Tiana: The test is successful. Both completed wolves are fully operational.

Meanwhile, Dr. Yuri is continuing his experiments on the catfish.

Dr. Yuri: Personal log, Dr. Yuri Wazowski. I now have a live subject for my study. I'm eager to validate my tissue regeneration theory. And now applying radiation to the catfish to see whether my theory is true.

He injects the serum into the catfish. So far nothing happens, but then they start spasming and fusing. The catfish mutates rapidly

Dr. Yuri: Experiment is going as planned...

The catfish breaks out, sprouting legs. It oozes a toxic mucus and then escapes after it vomits acid.

Dr. Yuri: Sound the alarm!

Men try to catch the growing mutant , only to get eaten or melted. It soon escapes the facility, disappearing into the water.

Lilian reads something in the paper.

Lilian: Giant catfish?
Alan: A freaky one from what I hear.
Lilian: Some say its a Wels catfish, but explain this.

She shows an image of the fish, deformed and having legs, as well as hideous bulges on its skin.

Alan: Well.... that's disgusting.

The catfish, now called Somazu, makes its way to Monsterland, and it has gotten significantly bigger. It screeches, waking every super species on the island. It starts oozing toxic mucus from its pores, which is poisoning the plants. This gets Stygimorah's attention, and also Raptorok, worried about Raptoria's eggs would be at danger.

Raptorok slashes at Somazu, cutting one of the bulges open. Out of the bulge spills acid puss. Raptorok filches but isn't too affected by the acid, Stygimorah takes more caution. Somazu then vomits more acid. Stygi dodges, although it hits Venatus's containment holder. The acid corrodes the electric fence, freeing Venatus. Venatus seizes his chance, just as Somazu pins Stygimorah down, Venatus bites into Somazu, but the acid puss forces him to spit the catfish out. The three super species, fight Somazu. His acid keeps him from being touched.

Hunt: This is going to be nuts.

Kiliffak then freezes Somazu and then she stomps down onto Somazu, crushing him into pieces. After a while, Somazu's remains are collected and analyzed. Dr. Powell takes a closer look at the genes.

Dr. Powell: Well, what we got here is what appears to be the genes of a Wels catfish.
Alan: What sicko would experiment on a fish?
Dr. Powell: Genetic experiment on animals is nothing new. My mentor was a geneticist. However, I'm picking up radiation, so I'd advise not getting too close.

Alan and Hunt back away cautiously.

Dr. Powell: Whoever mutated the Wels catfish, probably wanted to use it like a weapon, by infusing it with radiation.
Hunt: Jesus Christ.
Dr. Powell: With unpleasant results.
Alan: No shit.
Dr. Powell: Given how the mammoth froze that fish, should keep the cells from regeneration. Unless it propagated.
Alan: Suggesting it was bred?
Dr. Powell: Maybe.
Hunt Who in God's name would do such a thing?
