My last deviation was a queen, this one's a princess...what's next? O:Anyway.
This is an entry for a contest hosted by kia ryou and chie on gaia. The subject of this piece is kia ryou's character, kisara bastion. The one on the bottom is the princess, and the one on the top is the keyblader she becomes after being thrown off a castle wall, found dead in a river, and buried. The one on the top remembers nothing about the bottom. It's supposed to be a contrast (comparison?) picture, so the water is...like...a mirror. --headdesk-- So unoriginal.
Supposedly, there's a lot of symbolism, but I've forgotten it all because of the sheer amount of work I put into it. xDDD If you know the story, though, you'd probably be able to find it all on your own, because I didn't make them complicated. I worked at...some huge resolution that I've never worked ay before, and there were lots of details. Also, this was my chance to play with lighting (failure, obviously, the kisara at the top isn't shadowed enough if the light's behind her. Let's just say that the light is being reflected off the water?) And I can't forget the water splash, that took me forever and I'm still not satisfied. I think I got too lazy to outline each individual water droplet with more white and to lighten the water. I still think the effect came out okay, though...
Overall, it was a lot of work, and I'm happy that it's done. I kinda like the colors, too...hopefully, it'll do good in the contest? x'D

I really like the contrast. <3 Especially how the bottom uses cool colors and light clothing, and the top uses warm colors and black clothing. Very nice.

I think the clouds are what I'm most satisfied with, especially since it took me quite awhile to make them look right over such a huge expanse of sky. The background on the top is too big, but I needed all that room for the background on the bottom. D:
