Helaena's unexpected kiss was the catalyst for all the thoughts that Aemond had carried for years. Feelings he had suppressed for so long were bursting forth like fireworks. But he didn’t want to betray his nature, so he didn’t’ rush to unleash them on Helaena. Aemond practiced from dawn to dusk and avoided his sister for a time, torturing her thoroughly. Helaena thought her feelings were unrequited and totally inappropriate. Aemond noticed how something was wrong about her and once caught her by the hand (so she wouldn't run away) in an empty hall to finally talk to her. She was terribly frightened and thought that Aemond was going to start scolding her and telling her off. But he gently sat her in his lap and only briefly told her that their kiss was no mistake. Helaena burst into tears.
