Description DETAILS

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is a 2015 zombie apocalypse rpg. While there are many characters to choose from, I ended up finishing the civilian storyline with Maya Torres and the tougher military storyline with Victoria Russell.

NOTES

  ART PROGRAM/S:  Photoshop.
Part of me felt like I got carried away with the blood and grime, but there was no way these two girls were going to be clean in my zombie apocalypse illustration.

2016 PERSONAL GAME REVIEW: "STATE OF DECAY: YEAR ONE SURVIVAL EDITION"
Play Time: 57 hours

State of Decay mixes third person combat with resource gathering, base building, and personnel management.

There’s three game modes. The first mode deals with you keeping civilians alive while uncovering what’s happened to the valley they live in. The third mode deals with a military unit’s point of view and how they fared in a city. The second mode has no storyline and is all about straight-up surviving  increasing levels of difficulty for as long as you can and getting scored on your performance.

THINGS I LIKED:

It's got good variety involving voice acting, characters, car designs, weaponry, and personal items.
It's pretty realistic. Your people will need rest. Your base will need maintenance and upgrading. You'll need to scavenge for supplies or people will die. If someone dies, they're permanently gone.
Base building.  Create outposts, sleeping quarters, workshops, and medical areas to increase security and quality of life.

ISSUES I HAD:

Sometimes zombies will respawn without warning right behind you when nothing was there before and get a free attack. I would’ve liked them digging out of the ground first or something instead of POOF! and suddenly appearing out of thin air.

PERSONAL RATING:   9/10

Gamers who can get past the comic book art style, who like The Walking Dead television series, and/or are fans of survival horror, ought to appreciate the effort and quality put into State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition. I've never encountered a survival/defense game like this and I was extremely entertained for the amount of time I played.

I do reviews for anyone who might be curious about my thoughts of the game that inspired the art on this page. If you disagree with anything in the review, that's fine; that's your opinion. It is possible to post why you disagree and not be rude and/or stupid about it. If you can do that, I'll allow your explanation to be seen on this page if you're so inclined to post one.
