I think having a small point and shoot camera is an excellent idea. Many of them do superb work, don't take up much room, don't cost too much, and have lots of megapixels of resolution. It would be a good move!

Today I bought spontaneously a Canon Digital ixus 850is. I hope made a good choice. Could be bothered to to go home first to check the reviews.

I am not happy with the first shots. The colors are not nearly as good as with my nikon. I have to find out now what I did wrong or if I can't expect more.

Can you set the saturation in camera? I can do that with the Rebel...also I can set the contrast, sharpness and tone. It really makes a big difference! I always set the saturation to the max--except when taking pictures of red flowers..then I set it to normal.

I have to find out. I certainly don't want to have to edit every single shot in psp. I have a vacation next week and take the little camera with me to study it.

pretty...I saw some little orchids at the store today. they were only $4.99 on sale...almost got a couple just to take their pictures but didn't think it would be fair to the orchid as I probably couldn't have kept them alive.

Thanks! I think orchids are very fussy, very hard to raise, even with good intentions. I don't even want to try that, what with all the other things that need care around here (ourselves, hermit crab, cats, existing plants)!

They were so wonderful, but what really smelled divine was the lilies! I have never visited the conservatory when flower fragrances were so pronounced. I'd love to see the orchid festival, but I'll be zillions of people will be there...they have lots of fans.
