Thank you, Corina. This flower makes me think of a poinsettia; there are varieties now that have all three colors (red, white, green) in the petals!

Thank you so much! I'm not into Christmas much, either. We have such incredibly bad luck in our family, right around the holidays (Thanksgiving to New Years). In fact, it's so scary, we have come to call it "the Christmas curse"! But I keep hoping things will change...maybe they will this year.

Thanks, Sophie. I worked with a wonderful fractal and added a "kaliedescope" mapping transform; so I got the basic design plus a kaleidscope effect. I'll definitely be using that one again. I'm very glad you like it!

youΒ΄re welcome! I think it looks like you can go into the picture - thatΒ΄s what I like about it - itΒ΄s so deep!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

desmo100 In reply to Geschi [2006-12-04 19:25:32 +0000 UTC]

It's got so many layers! I get a certain 3D look to it by using many layers for different elements.

Geschi In reply to desmo100 [2006-12-04 19:46:43 +0000 UTC]

thatΒ΄s great! I love such things - IΒ΄d really like to get into a picture like that once... doesnΒ΄t work unfortunately though i like the imagination of it...

I think that (maybe) GIMP has layers functions--and it's freeware. Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro both have layers.

This is beautirful!! I have been unable to find a decent Christmas looking gradient!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

desmo100 In reply to live2b [2006-12-04 16:37:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. It's really hard to do an Xmas gradient that looks good. You can make your own, but be sure to put in a little black, dark green, and/or dark red in between the wider bands of white, red, and green. That way, you'll get the best texture effects, sort of 3D looking.

live2b In reply to desmo100 [2006-12-04 23:17:41 +0000 UTC]

I have used the gradient maker in APO, but none of my pics have the right colors in them. I know nothing about how to make a gradient from scratch!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

desmo100 In reply to live2b [2006-12-05 13:32:00 +0000 UTC]

As I recall, you can take any image and import it into Apo; it will convert and store the colors in the image as a gradient. I did it many times with the older versions and had good luck with that. Run the cursor over the gradient selection box icons underneath the window and see if those functions are still there.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

live2b In reply to desmo100 [2006-12-05 15:37:45 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the problem is, I don't have a pic with the right colors in it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

desmo100 In reply to live2b [2006-12-05 20:33:53 +0000 UTC]

You can make an image using the paintbrushes in PS, PSP, or GIMP. Just scatter some colors you like in a random pattern and save the image as a .jpg; then call it up through the gradient editor. I did this once, and it worked out pretty well!

There's a thought. I'll give it a try!!

desmo100 In reply to live2b [2006-12-05 20:48:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it doesn't have to be fancy, just any old paint blobs here and there will do.

Very niiiiiice!

Every time I look at one of your ChaosPro images, I wonder why I haven't taken the time the play around with it yet (since I did actually get and install it). So yeah, I'm having one of those forehead-slapping moments right now.

Thank you so much! CP is a buggy program, but if you can overlook the bugs and slog through all the formulas and maps and color formulas, there's gold in them thar hills! It's always so nice to discover something new and unusual there. But CP can be crazy-making, so don't let it get to you!

Thank you so much! I did about 6 different Christmas gradients, all with red, green, and white in them, but in varying amounts. This one really looks more vivid than my other renders.

desmo100 In reply to laurengary [2006-12-04 16:52:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Lauren. That is exactly what it reminds me of, too. I've seen green, white, and red colors mixed into a single bloom; there are multi-colored varieties now, and this makes me think of one.

desmo100 In reply to JennDixonPhotography [2006-12-04 01:22:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Jenn. The needles are part of the fractal beneath the flower design (starry, sparkly round things), and they show up so nicely in the right places. Both designs are nice, but together, they are really cool. (I'm pretty boastful, aren't I!)
