Description *A blank is like a small frame of skin without organs or bones, or a face. They wear different colors depending on the job, but the main theme is that they can’t talk unless they transfer pictures or memories to someone via a touch of the forehead. –Ed*

BLANK’S POV:

So I walked along the tile hallways of the lab in the middle of Siberia. Occasionally pausing to be poked or hugged or waved at by a test subject. They don’t know anything though. I know exactly what Socar has been up to. He’s going to k ill them all, and use them to make a superhuman. It was his goal from the beginning, wasn’t it? If only I could communicate in some way other than crude crayon drawings! If only there was a way to—

LILLIAN’S POV:

Lillian was taking accounts of some cut up body parts when she heard a loud Thud coming from the hallway. She put the tanned foot she was examining on the bottom shelf of a large cabinet, and ran outside to see what it was. There, on the floor was a blue blank. Behind it was Socar, leg raised, obviously having kicked it in a vital area of its “Spine.”

“Sir?” Lil asked, creeping towards the two figures.

“Lillian, glad you came.” Socar said to her, facing her. He picked up the fallen blank by the scruff of its neck and threw it to her. It felt like a doll, and she instinctively held it, one hand under its knees, and the other supporting its head. Socar scowled. “Don’t bother. We can’t let it continue to live.”

Lil looked hurt. “Why not? It can’t be…that bad of a….thing, can it? What happened that was so--”

Socar cut her off by grabbing her collar and bringing her to his goggle level. “Don’t ask questions, Lillian. We lose blanks all the time. Just leave it outside, I’ll let the guard take care of it. In the meantime, grab me some skin from the barrel and help me find a soul for a new one…”

Lil obeyed hesitantly and went outside into the bitter cold. The Blank in her arms was silver—Very strange. Silver Blanks were largely important, why would Socar go and kill one? Nothing made sense. Lil lay the Blank down in the small bin marked “GUARD” outside. However, she did something strange before leaving back into the lab. She took a pair of sewing scissors from her pocketed belt and snipped off the area of the blank where the heart would be if it were human. It felt warmer than all the rest of it, even in the bitter cold. She held it close for a bit, and then put it in the pocket, with the scissors.

It may pay to stay a little closer to Socar for a while… She mumbled to herself as she trotted back inside to help Socar build a new Blank.
