Description Found some time in-between other work to put together a try at some actual Gummi bears, focusing on the ones who could be found in Ursalia during the series. No real changes to these designs, other than giving Ursa a pouch that might be a little easier to animate.

Gummi bears are (c) the Walt Disney Company.

I must have missed this bunch back as a kid, but thanks to Youtube I'm making up for lost time, and soon I guess I'll be seeing Ursalia for myself. Good. The one in the middle looks badass.

Same thing happened to me. Youtube is the best! And yeah, in a way Ursa is sort of the Gummi answer to Wonder Woman.

I wonder why Gummi Beats didn't get pulled off Youtube but Rescue Rangers always seems to get yanked. Probably because the latter can be bought on streaming services.

It does sometimes, but it always seems to resurface. Maybe Disney is more vigorous about pulling Rescue Rangers for the reason you say. Incidentally, where is Rescue Rangers streaming? And do you happen to know if season 2 of Gargoyles is legally/officially available there too?

You can buy the entire CRDD series from stuff like iTunes and Google Play, but not Gummi Bears. Dunno about Gargoyles.

How true there also a episode with the munks (what known as season 7 as it is one of the last 7 episodes new ones that aired were we see tummi do a quick draw with 2 patery bags like a high noon setting.
Plus cubbi avenger costume reminded me of zorro esk type costume.

Gritti in his pose reminds me of roaster concern (excuse me if I did misspell his name) from the original true grit with John WAyne).

His character I suspect may been infuance by him. Β

I totally think you are right. Fantasy may be the main genre influence of Gummi Bears, but underneath that there are definitely other influences including westerns. You might remember there was also a one-episode bounty hunter character called Flint Shrubwood (who was just too freaking cool). And there was another episode with giant birds where Toadie and the Ogres became bird-wranglers for a while and Toadie got to wear a cowboy hat. XD

Thanks! The Glens are absolutely on the list of things to do. 'Soon' may be a relative concept since I have to squeeze these pics in between actual paid work projects, but I will try!

She is unfortunately the only girl with the Barbics (at least, as far as the tv show ever showed us), but at least she is the leader.

Incredible! I love this in more ways than I can describe. I love your character design, it fits SO well. I've made them taller too and your style really makes them more realistic. Amazing work. Β

Thank you! You know, it's funny...somewhere in the middle of doing these I started veering away from the Korra influences and picking up more from the classic Disney/ Milt Kahl style, and somehow that seemed to make them more lifelike rather than less. (This is still so very much an experiment in progress...)

This is great! Though given I have a clear Barbic bias, maybe that's expected! I think you made the designs great, adding a touch of realism to them which makes it stand out! Great work!
And makes me realize, again, that compared to the rest of his clan, especially Grubbi, Buddi really is a little thing!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DeniseSJones In reply to UlisaBarbic [2016-05-02 20:29:02 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I admit to wondering especially what you would think.

Getting the sizes was hard, so they might be off just a little. I couldn't find any official size comparison charts that included all the Barbics, so I had to watch some episodes on Youtube and try and guestimate based off of who stood how high to who in different scenes. Grubbi especially might be a little on the large side ...but you know, I think I like him that way, lol.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

UlisaBarbic In reply to DeniseSJones [2016-05-02 21:53:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think you were pretty spot on size wise. As for Grubbi, you know what they say; never trust a skinny chef!

I forgot, is Buddi son of Ursa?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

UlisaBarbic In reply to Me-MAI [2016-05-03 07:18:13 +0000 UTC]

Show never stated. Only real info we have on any of the gummi relations is that, according to the series bible, none of the Glen gummies are biologically related. But, the Barbics were not included in that, as they came about in the later seasons. Personally, I view Ursa as his adoptive mother figure, if nothing else.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

DeniseSJones In reply to Me-MAI [2016-05-02 18:00:33 +0000 UTC]

I don't think they ever said for sure whether she was his actual mother, but she certainly did treat him like her own son.Β  (Of course, he did seem to be the only kid left to the Barbic clan...)

If this was turned into the real show, I would watch it on the fly and record EVERY episode if I can't make the time. I especially love Ursa and Buddi in this. I hope to see how you do Gusto and Gruffi very soon!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DeniseSJones In reply to Tamishii [2016-05-02 17:16:04 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I wanted to get some general practice at drawing Gummis before trying to tackle the Glen Gummis. There is only one very minor tweak I want to make to Zummi's design just for a matter of personal preference, but other than that I love the designs of the Glen Gummis and don't plan any real changes, especially not to Gruffi or Gusto.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tamishii In reply to DeniseSJones [2016-05-02 17:43:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I wouldn't change much about them. Though... maybe have a bit of overgrown fur poke out of Gruffi's hat whenever he's shocked or really angry. Because personally, he's too cute to be intimidating, no matter how angry he gets. (Giggle)
