Description
The Unholy Wars 6.
"...At the fourteenth assembly of the United Neo-Nation a secret meeting took place to discuss the subject of human to demon love. Many objections were placed by the close minded officials. Not much was solved on the first day of the discussion but there was one country that seemed to understand the true meaning of the topic. The nation of Great Asia whom stated, "Love is an emotion not some statistic that can be altered at will. If we could turn our emotions on and off what would separate us from machines?" After much deliberation and debate it was agreed that public display of affection would be allowable but marriage between the two races is completely out of the
question..." -The Archive Vol.52-
While the music continued and everyone introduced themselves to Katie I slipped off to see my son, Nycholus. I made my way to my room and took a shower and changed into a pair of blue jeans and a white tank top. I crept down the hallway to surprise my son. "You suck at sneaking," I heard a voice say from behind me. I jumped a little in surprise and I turned to see who was following me. It wasn't too much of a surprise to see that it was Jesse leaning against the wall with her arms crossed and one leg propped up on the wall behind her. she had a small smile of satisfaction on her face in the fact that she caught me off guard. She was also dressed in blue jeans and a white tank top, this made me smile that we would wear the same exact thing. "Don't sneak up on me like that," I said to her casually. She just smiled to me and jogged to catch up with me so she could see Nycholus too. Jesse and Nycholus were very fond of each other, in fact they almost acted like they were brother and sister.
Ya know Katie seems like a nice girl, just kinda misled for the first few years of her life." She said trying to start a conversation. I just nodded in agreeance with her as my mind wondered to the scene of Katie's sister dying in her arms. "Hey what's wrong?" I heard Jesse ask, pulling me out of my daze. I let out a heavy sigh before I answered her, "I was just thinking about the girl that died today. She didn't deserve to die so young." Jesse stopped walking and grabbed me by the shoulders, looked me straight in the eyes and said, "Listen to me. There is nothing you could have done. You are not at fault here. We have no say in who dies and when, if we did no one would ever die." It was when she said things like this that I love her the most and must restrain myself from telling her so. "I understand that, it's just..." I started looking away form her beautiful eyes, "those two had each others complete loyalty and trust. Both of them willing to die for the sake of the other. That is the very essence of a true family, and that should never
be taken away from anyone." I brushed off her grip on me and I just started walking to my son's room again and she followed. We walked the rest of the way in silence.
As we reached my son's room I knocked on the door to let him know I was there. "Come in" came my son's reply. We entered the room and my son nearly jumped out of his medical bed and shouted, "you're home!" nearly throwing the game controller in his hand. We're home!" I said mimicking his enthusiasm and then walked over to give him a big hug. Jesse did the same and asked him, "Can you walk yet?" "Well..."came my sons reply, "...I can stand fro a little bit but not long. Mostly I've been playing video games all day, oh yea and those exercices Maria told me to try." I smiled as he said this because I know he's trying to follow in his fathers footsteps, but being a quarter-demon will prevent this from coming true. "what are you thinking about?" I asked my son seeing him staring off into space. "I was just thinking what the world must look like outside this room." Jesse and I looked at each other and then back to him. I was about to say something to comfort him but he started talking again, "ya know what I really want Dad?" his eyes started to tear up as he said these words, "I really wish i could take more than five steps away from this bed without collapsing to the floor. I want to go out on missions with you guys. I want to have a normal fourteen year old body that wont suddenly do that!!" he said screaming and pointing to a five foot scorch mark on the wall. All Jesse and I could do was look at each other for an answer for what to say in a situation like this. I decided to be the first to say something. So i sat down on the bed and said, "Me too kiddo, me too. We're trying we really are." He looked up to me as i said this and remembered how much like his mother he was, he even had her eyes, her beautiful blue eyes but he had his Father's white hair. "I know dad. I just wanna be able to DO something about the world." he replied sounding ashamed of what he said. Jesse sat on the other side of the bed and tried to comfort him as well. She gave him a sideways shoulder hug and in a softer voice said, "Hey, calm down okay? you know what happens when you get upset like this." His head bowed down as he said "Sorry." "Don't be," I interjected, "...nobody should have to go through what you have to endure. We go out on missions to fight against our enemies," I explained, "but you have to fight against yourself and that is always the worst fight in the world." Jesse was quick to try to help Nycholus feel better, "Not to mention you have electricity as your power which is difficult even for a Full-Blood Demon to control. You're only fourteen and you've learned how to hold it back already. And besides your character just died." Nycholus and I had a confused look on our faces when she said this until we realized she was talking about the video game he was playing. In big bold letters the words GAME OVER flashed across the screen. I smirked as the first thing I said to Jesse was, "Way to kill the moment Jess." "No Problem." she replied with a big grin.
"Ung...hnng..." Nycholus gritted his teeth and gripped both his shoulders tightly. "What's wrong?!" I asked him quickly jumping off the bed. "It...hurts..." was all he could manage to say. His powers were activating themselves again and he was fighting it back as best he could. Jesse and I knew we had little time to act before his power released itself. Last time it happened without something to ground his charge he knocked out the power grid for the building. I sent my thoughts to my sister, 'Angey it's Nyck!' her only response was,'I'm on my way.' I immediately gave orders for Teck to shut the machines down. If we didn't Nyck would overload them and fry their circuits. "I'm already on it." she replied to me as she moved from one machine to the next. I was busy trying to keep my son calm and hold him down as he squirmed in pain. His face spoke the anguish he had inside, I started talking to him the keep him calm. "You're doing good kiddo , but i need you to not move around so much okay? Can you do that for me?" He made it clear that he indeed heard me as his movement slowed a bit. "Okay good you're doing real good bud, real good." I was doing my best to be calm and supportive through the situation. "Aunt Angey is coming down to see you soon. Do you want her to see you like this?" I asked trying to get him to talk. "Nuh...uhh" was his only response while shaking his head. Jesse Tapped my shoulder to let me know that the machines were off and that she was heading out the door. I nodded to acknowledge her and took my son's hand in my own. I put a think strap of leather in my mouth after I heard the door behind me close. Through the leather i mumbled "go" and i braced for the pain to come. My son Screamed as he finally released his pent up energy directly into my body to keep from damaging the rest of the base. My muscles tensed as i felt his electrical current course through my body. It felt like getting struck by a lightning bolt for forty five seconds straight but it was a feeling I had grown accustomed to. Finally the feeling ceased and my son went limp save for the twitching. He was in shock from losing so much energy at once. My breathing was heavy as my muscles twitched as well from the raw energy still escaping my body through static discharge.
My son slept from his lack of energy and still shaking from the experience. I tucked him into his bed and kissed his forehead before leaving the room. I closed the door gently so i wouldn't wake him. Angela and Jesse were talking in whispers in the hall way. When they saw m they both approached me. "Are you okay?" Jesse asked. My Sister however knew it would take a bit more then a little electricity to stop me. She smirked a bit and remarked, "His condition is worsening isn't it?" I glared at her before responding. "Sister i have asked you repeatedly not to talk about him like he's diseased." "Apologies brother." She turned and left the hall leaving me and Jesse alone. "What were you two talking about?" I asked as we watched my sister walk away. She looked at me and then at the ground before replying, "Hmm? oh... uh ...nothing" I put my hand on her shoulders and forced her to face me and gave her a disbelieving look before speaking again. "I've known women long enough know that nothing means everything. You know you can tell me anything." She continued to look at the ground before brushing my hand off of her. "No... i can't." she whispered as she too turned and walked away. Like a fool i stood there and allowed her to instead of insisting. I couldn't help but feel that she and i felt the same about each other.
