Thanks for commenting. Yes, there is a specific place, - or memories of specific places, really, - that are the inspiration for this painting. I grew up close to the shores of Lake Ontario and near other, smaller, fresh water lakes. A lot of my significant life events are attached to those memories. When I'm at the shore now I feel them all come flooding in by waves. It becomes a metaphor for the sum of my life experiences and the eventuality of my own cessation.Β

Thank you. This painting was done alla prima, "wet into wet" - I tried to build up volume and colours with successive applications of heavy paint.
