Thank you much for your nice comments.. I am a Virginian and can't imagine living anywhere else.. I have moved away a few times but always end up right back here.. it's a great state, isn't it ?

Yes! My parents live in Amherst County, just 40 miles from Charlottesville, and I still refer to it as home, even though I've been married 25 years and have lived in Colorado, Ohio, and Tennessee! Born and bred and will always be a Virginian!

I've been down there a few times (most recently last May). I'm not much for the shore though. We had a place at the Jersey shore when I was a teenager and I really learned to hate going down there. Spent as more time working on the thing than enjoying it. We were on the mainland across from Long Beach Island and if you didn't have a driver's license, you were stuck, especially when the weather was bad.

Sorry you had a bad experience living at the shore.. I don't think I could bear to be away from the the sand and ocean for long.. i've been here most of my life.. guess I have ocean water in my blood

I'm more of a mountains kind of guy, though I do like Virginia Beach. It doesn't have the tackiness of the Jersey shore.
