It might look funny, but this illustration is actually based upon the story I heard from my grandfather a long time ago, when I was just a little kid (many, many times ). Grandpa had a true obsession with horses - still has (which he's successfully transferred to me ), and he was totally honest about witnessing this events, more than ones. Apparently, fairies come in the night and twist the horses mane to form some kind of stirrups or reins, to enable them to ride the horse during the night. It happens that it's very bad luck to untwist the mane, and if you leave your horses mane braided, the fairies will think more highly of your horse, and ride them well. So, if you find your horse braided in the morning, don't panic and just leave it as it is.
