Hey guys, semester is now finally over, and I'm ready to show what I worked on in one of my studio classes. I painted portraits of most every major character from Frank Herbert's sci-fi classic, Dune.

Dune is popular among concept artists and illustrators, but instead of opting for an ultra-sleek and flashy look, I turned to the pages, and tried to be as accurate as I could be, without sacrificing my own originality. Another thing I wanted to do was to not let David Lynch's film adaptation or the SyFy miniseries influence my designs. If there are any coincidences, that's all they are, as I literally did not look at either when conceptualizing these. I used actors for all of the portraits I'll be submitting, as I got input from professors saying this was a good idea, almost as if to cast a potential film.

First up is Paul Atreides. I wanted to stay clear of making him appear too old, as both film adaptations did. Paul is around 15-17 years old during the majority of the book. He is described as having medium length black hair and having both the round features and the pointy features of his mother and father.
