Description This was planned for a long time, and i had the sketch finished months ago, but decided to revive it.

Anyway, the poses were based off of a Boris Vallejo painting, this was mostly an experiment on doing backgrounds in the same style as my previous Zelda images.

I plan to do more of these eventually, but as of right now, I'm swamped with other projects.

I hope DA doesn't mess too much with the brightness.

Your art makes me realize, I'd love to see Nintendo make a full out medieval fantasy LoZ that doesn't take heavy tiki/tribal inspired art direction of OoT and onward. Something more "to the point" and more inspired by the classic NES art direction.

Yeah, I've noticed the tribal direction as well. I've always liked robust and simple character design, simplicity is what made the characters memorable in the first place.

It kinda looks like as if the lynel is floating, if you look at its feet.

He's in Mid-run, so all four feet are off the ground.

Wow, it's so nice to see some fan art of the older Zelda games, it brings such new life and fantasy to them.

For some reason, in pretty much every game series that I like, the first game is almost always my favorite. I love to revamp old games and characters. Thanks, Glad you like it!

Probably because if it wasn't for the first game, you probably would've never played or even seen the others! No problem, I'd love to see more!

Oh yeah. I now remember those sword-throwing centaur critters on Death Mountain. (if it wasn't the damn rocks falling on Link, it was these guys. Blue ones harder to kill.) NICE work on this! (Doesn't hurt that I'm a centaur nut. )

So very nostalgic. I do love the composition and the texture, especially on the shields. Although there are some sketch lines that could be erased in order to produce a cleaner picture, I think they add to the rough feeling of the entire artwork. After all, it is a harsh environment and a deadly enemy. The anatomy is most impressive. You can clearly see how massive the Lynel really is!

Very nice! There's a few pencil lines near the end of his torso (I'm assuming they were going to be mountains) that could be erased, but the shading is great and the horse-body is amazing.

I love the composition, but I feel like the sky may be a little too plain for Death Mountain. Giving it threatening dark clouds would add to the piece, but I do like what you have. I'm also impressed by the horse bottom and how anatomically correct it is. Keep it up!

Thanks! I agree, I could've done more with the sky.
Thanks for the fave too!
