DeepWoodian — Hyperion Class Heavy Cruiser

Description Third of my Babylon 5 scale models and second in building order.

Like the two others, Hyperion was also build from the scratch and materials are also somewhat same. Mostly balsa and other wood, some brass tubes, plastic, cardboard, etc. As a curiosity I can mention that the motor nozzles are light bulb "chucks".

Hyperion model is about 60 cm long and it is in same scale with two others so the models lenghts correspond to the "reality". Building took me 9 months and the year was 2005.

I am not totally satisfied with this model and especially the painting (where I am not good) would have needed more depth.

These were so huge and time consuming projects that I don't have will, patience or desire to do them just for sale. It just wouldn't be practical. And in any case, I don't have enough free time to start any new scale modeling projects at the moment.

Hehe, glad that you liked. It is nice to hear that the results are worth the work. Still I think that with proper painting (which I am not capable to do) this Hyperion would look so much better.

Well the painting itself is not so bad but too "simple". All the EA ships should have this metal paneling -pattern in their hulls and without it the Hyperion looks a little "plain". That is not so big problem with Omega and Nova which have darker colors.

yeah i know what you mean. but the nova/omega ships have some paneling on their "head".

do you plan to correct the painting or will you let is as it is

No I won't paint them again anymore. When I made them I did try to create that paneling-look but that did't look good (not enough skill) so I left them in those basic colors.
