I did! I remember this fondly.
Do you remember the game Hero?

Wow! That game sounds like interesting-yet challenging and dark game. Speaking of Hero did you also play this game called "Jetpack"?

Is that the one where you press a button to use the jetpack to navigate between obstacles? I haven't played that, but I've played a few games with similar mechanics.

Yeah, and you have to collect gems to advance to the next level while avoiding enemies

I heard of it, but never played it
Is it similar to Chip's Challenge?

It's more a "cause and effect" puzzle game than Chip's is. For example, you make a move and something reacts to it, like a rock falling onto the tile you just moved off of. You need to grab all the gems to clear each level, but sometimes you have to set up massive chain reactions to get them all. And you have to, you know, not die in the process. That rock that starts the chain reaction could easily kill you if you do it wrong.
