His cartoons were originally part of a show titled "King Leonardo and His Short Subjects". The show aired back in the early 60's.
The cartoons featured:
1) King Leonardo, his minister Odie Colognie (a skunk), and their nemesis Biggie Rat and Itchy, the King's brother.
2) Tutor the Turtle and Wizard the Lizard with his magic box.
3) The Hunter, his friend Officer Flim Flanagan and the Fox.
The Hunter typically solved cases quite by accident. At times the Fox would con the Hunter into assisting him with a crime. The Hunter was so inept that he would botch things just as Flim Flanagan showed up. Flanagan would then congratulate the Hunter and thank him for solving the case. At that point, the Hunter would announce that the Fox never had a chance, because "I am the Hunter".

Yeah, I thought he was from Underdog because his cartoons are on the Underdog DVDs.
It's an honest mistake.
