Description well my first digital painting (with a mouse mind you) ever didnt go half as bad as i thought it would, i kinda like it

anyways i just wanted to make my own megaman fan character on a whim, the MKX means nothing other to signify that this is not a female version of the main protagonist megaman(or rockman for all you weaboos out there)

I missed you too! And I've been busy playing pokemon. I've also been working a lot recently. Feels like my arms about to fall off. And I'm so excited that you got your first digital art done! It looks amazing btw. O_O

Oh, I wanna see O_O and I'm pulling my hair out too over chapter one. It's sooo boring having to get to the plot and starting the story out and everything lol. So what exactly are you trying to master hum?

Hahaha, this one's much better than that first coloring you did a few months back. I sympathize with you too, since I also do all my coloring with a mouse.

Well done for one of your first attempts! I'm sure you'll pick up many more techniques as time progresses, but for focusing on one thing at a time, one of the big things that you need to look at is skin tone-- this happened in your last CG attempt as well. Try to find a warmer and lighter skin tone, as the yellow is a bit strong and comes off as if there were cases of Jaundice.

Other than that, extremely well done for one of your first attempts in digital media! Looking forward to seeing more.

aye, ile work on skin and hair, also getting better control of that brush with low opasity, if i stroke over to much in SAI it gets often undesiredly darker uneavenly, ima fix that soon i hope

not bad considering you did it with a mouse, although if you plan on doing a lot of digital work i suggest you get a tablet, you can get the low end Waccom tablets pretty cheap and they are well worth the money.

As for the coloring, you definitely want to use a warmer skin tone then that, its very yellow, also its a good idea to shade the skin with redder shades than the base color rather then just a darker color, it makes the skin feel much warmer.
I'm not really sure what you were trying to do with the hair, but it just looks messy, you want to try and shade the hair so ar to give it some form, its a good idea to use a hard edge brush as well to give some definition and make it seams like theres strands of heir and not just a clump of it.
But in general you seam to know how shadows work and how to create form and shape. The colors also work well together. I honestly feel you should invest in a tablet, would be worth it.

Right well, hope that doesnt come across as to harsh lol. Keep it up.

i was really lost wen it came to skin shading and hair shading, im pretty awkward at toning skin, and wen it came to the hair i had NO idea how to color it in without waisting hours to only turn up a bad result, what you see now was just the best go out of a few experements

i kind of aplied cell shade theory into my shadowing, but generaly i know how coloring worked before hand purely due to study

thank you for the critiques, trust me, its better than my irl friends just straight out saying it sucks, which they often do xD

Yeah i have a lot of trouble with hair as well... i've actually just decided to go back to basics with hair now and am just doing basic shape shading on it with some simple highlights, you can see the results here [link] and here [link] Its actually turning out a lot better than all my other attempts at hair lol so there must be something to what im doing .

With skin i'd tell you to just not be afraid to go too red, its better for skin to be too pink than too yellow, just looks better. A goo idea if you having trouble picking skin tones is just download some pics, and use the eye dropper tool on the skin seeing all the different tones, that lets you see generally where people are picking skin tones from, so it might give you a general idea where to start from.

use SAI or photoshop CS5
personaly i prefer SAI because of the curve pen tool, makes it way easier to line
