This rug is a tradition in Huamantla - Tlaxcala in Mexico where all the neighbors in every street of the town create this rugs made of sawdust and petals in the day of the celebration, they start in the evening and have to finish before dawn, and when it's all finished at 7:00 am the people of the town start to go around the streets following the altar of La Virgen de Guadalupe while stepping on the rugs, that's how I understood it.
