Description "Tell me, what is a god without followers?"

Within the au of UnderSoulios are a small group of followers called The Devoted. The process of becoming a Devoted is extremely challenging, and very few will ever come to claim that title. To obtain the title means pledging their entire lives to their deity of choice and abandoning the life they lived before.

It requires the individual to undergo Trials of Essence. These trials depend on what their chosen deity represents, and every individual's trial is personalized. Some Devoted are not even aware they're in a trial until it's over. Those that fail will never hear from their wanted deity. Those that are chosen are whisked away from their homes to live a new life with other Devoted, serving their deity until death.

Every Devoted group has a leader. The leader is either the first chosen of their deity or a successor chosen by the god. They are said to have a part of their deity's soul somewhere on their person in the form of an object. This holy object grants the leader the ability to summon their deity to aid in any struggle they undergo or guidance.

Erelah: Lesser soul of PATIENCE, head of The Devoted who pledge their loyalty to the Deity of Fall and Winter.
This leader's trial would take the form of a harsh fall and winter. Erelah formerly lived in a small town located below a mountain in the snow. While Erelah wandered away from town as a child, an avalanche swept through her town and killing everyone there. When she returned, she was met with nothing but snow that buried where her town used to be. It was only thanks to her mother and father's teachings that she managed to survive the cold fall and winter months, hunting smaller animals and fishing. She made a new home in a cave.

It was while on a hunting mission that she was first spotted by the deity her village prayed to. Kubikajiri, a two-headed, white dragon with fur as soft as powdered snow and wings that encompassed the very aurora borealis in them. It was this chance meeting that Erelah bowed to the great god and explained her predicament to him, pleading for guidance on how to survive the rest of the winter. Kubikajiri, meanwhile, was stunned a child so young had survived as long as she did in the winter, and chose to take her under his wing for safety.

Erelah was raised by the deity, eventually becoming his first Devoted and paved the way for more followers. Her relationship to Kubikajiri was special, one of father and daughter. Entrusted to her upon becoming a Devoted was a gong and mallet, two items created from a part of the deity's soul.
As the head Devoted, she follows her soul trait as a patient individual who teaches the other Devoted on how to better serve their god. She firmly believes in her god's teachings and feels distain towards anyone who disagree.

-------

Agnidut: Lesser soul of BRAVERY, head of The Devoted who pledge their loyalty to the Deity of Spring and Summer.
This leader believed in a false trial spread through rumors told in his village, of which was located near a forest. He acted like a fatherly figure to all, providing aid and tending to the weak. Plants blossomed under his care, and animals thrived off his nurturing touch and farming. Agnidut would pray to his goddess every day, even creating a stone statue in her honor within his home and at his farm. Despite his generosity and caring for the life of others, he never heard his deity speak to him. Despite this, he continued his praying and work. Not just in his deity's name, but to also make his village a better place.

His dreams were crushed when pillagers attacked his village, igniting it in flames and taking everything they could. Agnidut fought bravely against the onslaught, however was gravely wounded while trying to protect another villager. Despite this, he dared still crawl on his hands and feet in any attempt to save what little was left of his home, praying for his deity's strength to help him protect what he loves.

It seemed at long last, his prayers were answered. The pillagers were decimated by flames, turned to nothing but ashes. In the wake of their deaths rose Eutemia, a lung dragon covered in fur, scales and phoenix-like feathers. She recognized his Trial of Essence to be the attack on his village, and his devotion to preserve life even if it meant his own death. She let him remain at the village to rebuild what he and what remained of the village folk had left. Once his village appeared stable, he was whisked away form his old life to live as Eutemia's first chosen Devoted.

As a leader, he acts as a fatherly figure to the rest of the Devoted. Entrusted to him by Eutemia was a golden bell formed from a part of her soul, allowing him to summon his deity when needed. Agnidut was the only Devoted brave enough to question his deity in decisions she made he didn't fully agree with, marking him as an individual who gained Eutemia's further companionship by his ability to speak with her more as an equal than the other Devoted.
