Yeah, this is one of my fave ep's: finally a CLUE as to who Holmes really is and where he's coming from! Have a feeling that what we get on screen nowadays is more or less a flawed mute hero - but at least with JB version there's an actual character involved, presented and present - even if through little things such as a look, a smile ... Audience can ask and answer questions (something I can't quite do with let's say Downey Jr.)

Actually I didn't watch this episode... 
It's clear, that JB was the best Holmes ever. These barely visible smiles, his facial expressions, his voice - sometimes very loud, sometimes silently. He has not played Holmes - he WAS him.
