If there's something that I loved from the book was Thorin's family , how Kili and Fili respected him and followed him till the very end of their journey (damn you Tolkien , even though I still love you)

What I loved of Thorin at first was his courage and his loyalty to his lost kingdom..
and when I watched the movie I fell in love with his eyes and how he looked forward to take his home back.

He gave everything to built a new home for those who had survived , I tried to imagine how hard his life had been till the day he chose to go along with his companions on this journey.

Working for Men (and we know that some of them are not that kind or honest towards others) , I imagine him traveling in the most dangerous places to gain some food or anything useful for his kind ...

As my friend said :

When I look at this, Even if he didn't have a golden crown upon his head I would have followed him till the very end.

Fate has been cruel but his legend will live till the end of Middle Earth.

I was going to cry during the movie at some scenes , because I'm so attached to The Hobbit book and this chracter...

This is why when some of my friends sometimes say that Dwarfs are not that great or cannot be compared to other characters just like Elves or other Men , I get a bit uspet (some of them hadn't neither read the book) because if they knew how great Ori Nori Dori , Bifour Bofur Bombur , Balin Dwalin , Gloin Oin , Kili Fili and then Thorin are...

They were the ones who showed more loyalty to Thorin then others and as long as he had them along his side he wouldn't feel alone.
He didn't need a golden crown upon his head neither an army.

And Richard Armitage(Thorin) did a great job , and I loved how he was able to play this character.

Oh god this is the longest comment I've ever wrote , sorry guys...didn't mean to write down so much , you know this is something I really care about.

Your comment was beautiful. I agreed with everything you said. Thorin and his two boys were so special (well they ALL are!). The fact that those 13 set out to get back their home all by themselves.... Well, I wouldn't be surprised if the Dwarven race built 13 mithril statues in their honour. Thorin, Fili and Kili would be considered martyrs or something. I cannot hate any of them. Thank you Tolkien.

You are completely right. Thorin is my favorite character from the hobbit... since the first time a read the book a long time ago. Someone says he was callous and greedy, but considering the weight of his responsabilities, the sad fate of the dwarven kingdoms and the honor of his family... I can only say that he was awesome up to the end!
