I really like the pose in this one! The anatomy is spot-on and I love the touch of white highlights.

I loved drawing on toned paper... the value of the paper does half your work for you!

This was done with black, gray and white charcoal pencils (Stabilo CarbOthello). It produces a nice color transition and a silvery feel like silverpoint.

lovely, just amazing. i say life drawing is the foundation of it all. i think most artists who are only interested in the stylized look fall short in their potential.
thank you for helping me realize this, you have shown me how interesting normal life can be. i don't always need to stylize or give an exotic pose. You have helped me appreciate art in it's truest form.

I am pretty sure he trains people in that respect. Mark Tennant received a BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and earned an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. He has also studied at Art Center, College of Design in Los Angeles and the Art Students League of New York. He has taught at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and at Atelier du Caroussel and Academie Julian in Paris

Color paper is great... it gives you so much of the halftone values in many cases.
