For a couple of seconds, I thought she was a male character, too.
I love these sorts of character (animal-human hybrids [I forgot the actual terms]). There's just a limitless amount of designs that can be thought up for them.
Drawing-wise:
I really like this one. The dynamic pose, details, accessories, the colors (white and orange [or is it yellow] goes surprisingly well together), and the outfit are nicely done.
I especially love the eyes and ears. They are very detailed, and the eyeliner is just right (noticeable, yet not overwhelming).
