First off, I love the flow of this. Your eye travels from the head, down the torso, and then around again either via the negative white space on the right or the swirly smoky bits on the left. I like that contrast of the smoke on one side and the empty space on the other. Sometimes people will make stuff like that (the smoke) and then fill up the entire picture/white space with the "special effects"/smoke/whatever, and then it just looks flat and looses its interest and impact.
Next, there's a lot of really great detail going on. It's all incredibly organic (I'm a sucker for anything flowy/organic ok), and I absolutely adore how every bit "flows" with the overall body shape. In other words, it doesn't feel stiff. Every bit and bob, even if it is decorative, feels like it belongs. That's really good because it means people can enjoy it as a whole without anything sticking out and being distracting (conversely, they can also enjoy looking at all the tiny details and how they fit together! It's like looking at a puzzle ).
Your mark-making is great too. You've got a nice mix of cross-hatching and other shading styles. Often I find people will stick to one shading style, which works sometimes, but I think here your mix really helps it pop and helps to differentiate each area. When areas are shaded and constructed in different ways like that, it makes it more interesting because it seems like there are a lot of similar but different surfaces and materials all working together. I mean, not every part of a dragon is made of scales, and even if it is then they all might vary in size/texture/purpose. I think you did that really well here.
Anddddd lastly cause this is getting to be really long wow, I love how in every element you mixed a sort of 'jagged' feeling with the overall organic-ness. It really makes this guy seem beautifully deadly. Something you could admire in awe from afar, but man piss this guy off and you're dead. He's srs business.
The only thing I could think of right now I would personally change is the smoky stuff. It looks pretty great, but it's all the same grey. Maybe if you darkened it slightly where it meets the creature and then lightly erased or smudged the ends where it trails off, it could give it more of a sense of connecting to and coming off the creature (if that was your intent).
My gosh that was a large wall of text o.o I hope you find it useful, and if you ever want some feedback on anything else I'd be happy to oblige!~ I would keep making pencil pictures if I were you, this is great (along with other mediums you like, of course XD).

Thank you for the compliment!
You may as long as you credit the fanart visible as my original creatures of my original story becoming a published book and as long as you do not create non-existing other body parts of the nightmare (considering you only see the head here, it might not be too suitable). I'm very careful for that, no intention to be nasty here.
