She's a beauty, right enough, though she and her sisters were even more beautiful to the pilots and aircrew bobbing about in inflatable rafts after bailing out or ditching, or sailors whose ships went down.

There were many Catalinas built by Vickers of Canada under license to Consolidated. They were designated PBV (V for Vickers) to distinguish them from the PBY's ("Y" being the U.S. Navy manufacturing nomenclature for Consolidated). The RCN (Royal Canadian Navy) also gave them the distinct name of "Canso" which is a coastal community in Nova Scotia.
