****June 22, 2006: Well, you don't get any better by stopping when you're 'finished.' So I tweaked some more stuff. HOPEFULLY it's good enough now. ****

***June 20, 2006: Okay, I'm happy with it now. Edited some stuff, most of which you probably won't even notice. I redid the background. Now it's warmer to match the fire of Kyuubi. However, I desaturated it to keep it in the background and not overpower the image. I also moved Naruto's right eye closer to his nose. It seemed too far over to me. And I fixed his teeth!! Hooray! They do not ressemble fake Dracula fangs as much anymore. I figured out the major problem with them, they looked like they were just stuck on his face, not IN his mouth. So some shading 'under' his lips helped unify them with his face. Had to stare at it a while (at work) to figure that out.***

Problems I've had:
1) Naruto in general. Let's face it, humans are not my strength. Although I'm getting much better.
2) Naruto's fangs. They started out looking like those fake, plastic Dracula fangs. Much better now!
3) The 'lines' on Naruto's face. They're different in every reference I look at! And what are they anyway?

Despite the problems I have had, I'm pretty happy with it so far. One of my goals for this project, other than doing a human character, was to make it less smooth-looking (see "The Battle for Paradise"). I think I was successful on that part. There's some nice texture in the fur and hair. I haven't yet determined how successful I was at rendering a human being. Kyuubi looks nice though.

Not sure I like the background, even though I do have reasoning behind it. Orange and blue are complimentary colors and to help Kyuubi stand out, I was already using blue while I was working. The orange added is supposed to kinda represent the Kyuubi's nine tails that you cannot see. And the swirling background kinda goes with the whole swirl/Uzumaki thing. I'm certainly up for suggestions on how to make it better.

In total, there are 47 layers (not counting the reference layers). 17 layers for Kyuubi. 27 for Naruto.

So I've decided to sell prints of this. . .if anyone is interested. 4" X 6" and 5" X 7" prints are $10 a piece. 8" X 10" prints are $15. Shipping and handling are included if shipped within the U.S. If you'd like to purchase prints, note me or email me. If anyone wants the original sketches, let me know.

Medium: Photoshop 7 (with a little help from Macromedia Flash MX 2004 for the leaf emblem)
Time: Ummm. . .well I kind of lost track. I was distracted while working most of the time. . .but I'd estimate between 12-14 hours.
