Originally, the Black Cat was intended to be a Spider-Woman villain. What prevented Felicia Hardy from becoming Jessica Drew's worst nightmare was that Spider-Man was able to make her into his ally. In addition to Black Cat, Jessica Drew does have feelings for Peter Parker as well. I don't know why Marvel decided to put her into a useless relationship with Hawkeye instead of exploring her relationship with Peter Parker?
