Behold, the misunderstood giant sea-creature: Sidon! The song I used for this challenge is the Davy Jones theme from Pirates of the Caribbean! He is one of my favorite creatures to draw now and one of the biggest.
Sidon's backstory is at a young age a young girl found him and raised him until the town on the island found out and drove him away where he sleeps at the bottom of the ocean. Years later, Lavon (a mischievous eel-like sea creature) comes and tortures the coast surrounding the island, cutting it off from the world. When the young girl (now grown up) confronts Lavon, Sidon hears, awakens, and returns fully grown and covered in sunken ship debris that fell to the ocean floor he was sleeping on ready to battle Lavon to save his long beloved friend and the town that drove him away.
I started a challenge for myself to create a creature design based off of a chosen song. I have A LOT of fun with this challenge and it is what inspires almost all of my creature designs! The music helps provide a mood and feel of what a character is like, narrowing down what to make the character look like (the deeper bass and sharper notes show for a strong and bulky build while the quicker/higher pitched would give a smaller build).
