Description Nothing quenches a faery's thirst like morning dew on a blade of fresh grass.

Painted in Photoshop with my trusty Tablet PC - approx 15 hours.

This little sprite is my partner... I took a few photos to use for reference specifically for this picture.

I also looked at some stock art here on deviant art for reference purposes:

Hairpiece Foliage: [link]
Forehead Jewelry and Flowery Top: [link]
Henna: [link] and [link]
Wings: [link] [link] and [link]

The blade of grass and water droplets are directly inspired by a photo in "Understanding Digital Photography", a book by Bryan Peterson. I didn't scan it so I can't post it (probably couldn't anyway since his photos are not public domain). By the way it's a great book if you want to improve your photography or even just to learn what all of the settings on you digital camera are all about.

Enjoy!

Nicely done. Good color scheme, composition, and it's got a very origional feel to it.

You commented on my art so I'll return the favor...

This is lovely! 15 hours huh? I spent about two or so on the deviation you commented on. But a couple of things I used (the faeries and the butterflies) were taken from other deviations I made to save time.

I gotta get myself a tablet... I do everything with a mouse.

Great job!

Tablets are definitely great tools! They're strange at first since you're looking at the monitor and not at your pen, but you get used to it. Thanks for commentig KagomeYuy, and thanks tons for the !

Excellent concept and execution. I love the whole idea behind it, and the added bonus is the smiling face of the faerie. Two !

Thanks Outlaw... that smiling face is pure genuine - my partner was just delighted to pose for the picture and she couldn't stop smiling... it was such fun. Thanks for the comment!

Your coloring is amazing! You do all this on the computer yes? Do you have a tablet?

Once again thanks Glimeron!

Yes it's all Photoshop. I use TabletPC so I can draw directly on the screen, which is a little more natural than a separate tablet (I used a Wacom Grapphire until last year). Usually I plug into my desktop monitor for colour corrections and such, as the colour range is a bit truer. Cheers!

Thanks slimEGGMAN - the references help out immensely, as did the techniques I learned from that Seegmiller book, though the lighting caused me some difficulties...

Definitely worked for me! I've only done one tutorial from it so I'm hoping that I'll get better and better as I work through it.
