Created forFor this contest, the challenge was to take ~dreg17 's drawing "Visitor" [link] and use it as reference.
This started out in color, of course - I mean, c'mon...am I the queen of color or what??
But somehow, while the colors were beautiful, it didn't quite all gel together. I experimented with the monochrome sepia look and decided, since this has a bit of a steampunk flavor anyway, to go for an old-fashioned photo daguerreotype look.

Very much in keeping with the original sketch, I love that you kept with the colors you did. Giving it an aged appearance almost makes it look as if it were a map to an alternate universe!!

oh Deborah you did a wonderful job. hahaha you beat me to the punch hahaha. we are going to be doing monochromatic in January. monochromatic is the most difficult of all arts to do. You did a wonderful job on this. you know it looks like a page out of those really old magazines back in the 1920's. it also looks like metal printing. geez this is sooooo fantastic. I do agree with Gary that the moon and rays needs to come out a little more. can't wait to see what you come up with in Jan.

Sometimes the color is not crucial to the quality of art...This is fantastic and sepia gives the impression of old pictures on the wall!Great job,i like it!

great house and windmill, not sure what that other flying thing is..lol..and the rays look faded but that may be what you were going for. wonderful rocks but I would have liked to see the moon. beautiful job

Thanks so much! Yeah, when you design something in color and then make a last minute decision to turn it monochrome, you lose some stuff, so not the best strategy...
