just a generic square hard brush and a round soft brush
for cartoon lewds i 99% use SAI, but use photoshop for paintings or sometimes messy brushes for background effects

well it's soft so it's used for when the edges need to be a softer gradient than the harder edges, it's most effective as a round shape as most soft edges tend to disperse out radially
you need one hard brush and one soft brush, texture or shape is irrelevant for several years during mastering the basics anyway
