I really like the drawing, I would only say that the background colour makes it a bit too overwhelming, at least for my liking, but it seems like you usually like your works "heavier", so to speak The flowers on her head are great, by the way, and I like how the one in the centre is slightly light up from the inside, it's a nice touch.

Thanks a lot.
Indeed the color choices are pretty stark, it looked quite a bit
different when I looked at it a day later
I even thought of making a second version with a completely different color scheme,
but probably I'll just keep in mind to not get any more extreme the next time^^
yet, if I may ask, what exactly do you mean by "heavier", you got me eagerly interested

AdrStefanska In reply to Cuculum [2018-05-23 18:06:04 +0000 UTC]

Hm, I meant that your works are usually darker, not very cheerful, I guess? Sort of serious. "Heavier" seemed like a good word to use

Yeah, I get what you mean, thank you for the explanation,
I thought you refered to the color scheme.
It's funny, even in quite cheerful scenarios, my mind seems
to have a rather grim inspiration.
Maybe it's my lack of humour^^

You just have to explore what comes to your thoughts, I guess Unless you want to change some things, of course. You seem to have a consistent style, that's a good thing, but only if you're ok with it.

Cuculum In reply to AdrStefanska [2018-06-07 23:57:03 +0000 UTC]

Honestly most of the time I have no clue what I'm doing
or wanting^^
But I think that's not too bad,
it makes it all more natural.
You've found your style as well it seems, even though there are very
noticible differences if you try something new, be it the medium or theme changed up

AdrStefanska In reply to Cuculum [2018-06-08 18:46:13 +0000 UTC]

It's better that it's a natural style, I agree Trying to change things up with every work can be frustrating, you can learn more thoroughly in a routine.
As for me I feel like I have a set of different approaches (routines) for different works, I'm in a mode "learn, try different things" and it might change, though I'm glad that you think that overall my works are similar to each other I feel like I had more homogeneous works in my teens and now I want to learn it all! ]:-> Even if my galleries on social media are a mess because of that, ha, ha.

Cuculum In reply to AdrStefanska [2018-06-14 06:52:22 +0000 UTC]

branching out is a good thing,
not only because there might be something out there, a style which is more fitting than any tried before,
but honestly I also think it makes you learn faster for the most part.
Yes, with a routine it's somehow more thoroughly, but this only affects the rendering and details and the

mechanical part of the process,

whereas I do think the ideas and principles like composition, form and color are more likely to be improved,
when perceived from many points of views, different styles and mediums.
Especially if one even sets sort of a time limit to not spend days on one work.

For the messy gallery, it's the same for me, webcomic, mandalas, semi-surreal stuff and random creatures
as well as anything else which might pop up isn't really consistent either^^
When I joined DA I wasn't sure if I should somehow get a common theme going,
but now it doesn't seem of any importance to me,
if the web presentation is restricting the work, one's doing something wrong...
at least that's my conclusion for now

I find that I get bored pretty easily if someone posts very similar works all the time, so I agree, it's better to have some variety Either way, one shouldn't stop trying different things, even if it isn't going to end up on the internet and I'm on the same page as you are on that too, but I'm still thinking about what's most interesting to the person viewing my works and what I personally like in other people galleries. No harm in thinking

That's undoubtedly true.
But as you can see in the delay this response has, I'm quite bad at media
in any form, but especially digital media (I even tried to get engaged in twitter once,
but up to this day I did not completely comprehend the concept and true nature of the medium)
On a different note I'm very eager to see your last uploads, I've missed 7^^
It's inspiring to see your creative productivity

It's hard to be always present, I know. In May, I think, I also had a harder time posting, responding to people and commenting, but when I'm posting like now, (almost ) every day, it's easier somehow. After the few last works in this series, I will probably take a vacation from these things, this time consciously Thanks for mentioning Twitter, I don't get it either, high five!

Oh, I just now realized that we have a new month^^
That's probably a good idea, planning the relaxation
(ok, seems like I can't use this term without thinking about mathematics...)
planning in general is quite useful.
But I do notice, that it is really alarmingly easy, to go astray.
I focused a lot on music in the last weeks and there was a gap of ca 3 weeks without any drawing,
that was pretty bad.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to stop... Over the years I had stretches of time, months, that I didn't make anything (maybe some "artistic", in a different way, things for university). I really regret those years, but there's only present and I'm trying to make up the lost time now Β

Cuculum In reply to AdrStefanska [2018-07-29 20:19:41 +0000 UTC]

I know such times as well, but it was mostly some years at school for me.
Let's just say some teachers weren't very thrilled that I drew while listening to them
and some where very direct about that^^ Which left quite some impressions on my
shy 5th grade self.
The best we can do is trying to make the best out of the present
and since we can be sure that there won't ever be enough time to learn and improve,
no matter how long the lifespan might be, at least we do not have to worry if we'll get there^^
at least that's my point of view.
and as you can see, I'm pretty good at time shortages, it's been more than three weeks now
and the only thing I managed was to swing by to make webcomic updates to keep it somewhat consistent.
I'm very sorry this response is more than just late Β

I agree, better just enjoy the process and do your best
(And don't worry about answering sooner or later, I know how it is, especially in a second language and if you have other things to deal with )

Thanks, it's very helpful to have feedback.
It seems like I hit a threshold with this one (and the previous one of the same kind)
possibly my color choices won't get more extreme than that^^
Even with this one it's extreme how big the difference between various monitors is
