"Please, just listen to me," the now-taller yellow earth pony barked. There was a sigh of exasperation and a look of depressed tiredness in her eyes that could only be the effect of draining confidence and growing worry.

The older pony laughed darkly. "I'm listening. Listening, listening. All you do is talk, talk, talk." She chuckled coldly to herself as she began to clean blood off her hooves with a cloth until they were sparkling clean. She looked longingly back at the towel for a short moment before throwing it over her shoulder without a care where it fell.

Apple Bloom sighed and stared up at her mentor with heavy exhaustion. "Pinkie Pie--"

"Pinkamena," the pink pony corrected sharply.

"Pinkie--"

"Pinkamena. Diane. Pie."

Apple Bloom's heart began to break all over again just at the sight in front of her. Her delusional friend, the one who had taught her everything she knew and had done everything to make her happy, was snarling and pacing in front of her, occasionally pausing to glare deeply into her soul with those piercing, blue wide eyes. She was having another one of her fits.

"Look," Apple Bloom proceeded cautiously, "you can't continue like this. It ain't safe, it ain't good for you, and I'm starting to get a might worried about your health."

Pinkamena giggled maliciously. "Rainbow Dash always said--"

"Well Rainbow Dash ain't here anymore!" Apple Bloom screamed, a tear rolling down her face. She grimaced at the sight of the ruined pony before her, who was a frightening pony when angered. She lowered her voice and said in a pained whisper, "Look. I'm sorry. I just want the best for you, Pinkie. What if... what if..." she trailed off and swallowed before continuing, "What if you get caught? What happens to you then?"

Pinkamena warned Apple Bloom with a death glare, and the younger pony recoiled. When Pinkamena spoke, her voice was raspy: "You wouldn't tell anyone. Would you?"

Out of fear, Apple Bloom nearly shouted at her mentor. "No, no! I wouldn't! Just... Promise me you'll try to change. Please, Pinkie. I'm begging you. I don't know how much more of this I can stand. I... I..." her tears cut her off.

Pinkamena's eyes rolled to the ground for a quick moment before her face relaxed at the sight of watching her dearest friend break down. Her own eyes released tears as well, them running down her cheek and staining the dirty basement floor.

When Apple Bloom looked up, Pinkamena was in front of her, and before she could find a reaction, the pink pony had pulled her into a tight hug. "Don't cry, Bloom." This was more of a command than a suggestion, but her voice remained soft. "I... I don't know if I can change," she admitted after some silence. "B-but I can try. I-I'm going to need you here with me, Bloom. I don't think I can do this without you. Please, don't leave me."

"Dammit, Pinkie Pie," Apple Bloom sighed heavily as she pulled away from the hug. After seeing the hurt expression on the pony's face, Apple Bloom's own face fell. "Everything is going to be okay," she muttered, and if Applejack had been there, she'd shame her for lying. Apple Bloom wiped a tear off Pinkie's face. "We'll be okay. No matter what, you will always be my Pinkie Pie." She pressed a quick kiss to her mentor's cheek as she noticed a small smile.

"And I'll always love you."

no no no no they aren't cousins
I shipped this before the "Pinkie Apple Pie" bullshit

//sobs

it never was officially stated that they were related
therefore, for all I'm concerned, they're not.

Remember, it's up to each individual person's headcanon since it could be either option, and this is mine
