Description This is what i did during the afternoon of my day off. I plan to paint these, along with the rest of my unpainted sculptures (currently 7, this batch included).

Here we have Cricket playing with a glass ball (out of a Ramune bottle), Cricket in some sort of strange chibi/cowtato morph, RooPawz on a glass ball (again from a Ramune bottle), and lastly, a rat on a Ramune marble as well.
US quarter for size reference.

Ramune is a Japanese soft drink with an unusual top:
"Rather than use a twist top cap, ramune bottles are closed with a vacuum sealed glass marble. Simply opening the bottle is an adventure by itself! To open your bottle of ramune, punch out the plastic plunger from the perforated ring it's attached to, place it in the hole in the thick plastic mouthpiece, and use it to depress the marble down into the bottle with gentle pressure. Ramune is carbonated, so make sure you've got a towel handy because your ramune will erupt on you, even if it doesn't look shaken up."

It's fun ^^ And tastes pretty good too

[link] is a photo of an open bottle. The marble sits in the squished together bottleneck after it is popped in. They're anywhere from $1.30 each to about $2.00, depending on where you find them ;.;

Thats so cute! And you find that expensive O.o?! Where do you buy your cola I must find! Alot of our...well those big machines on the street sell for 1.75 for a plastic bottle of pop....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cricket00fur In reply to AtropaGrimm [2005-04-28 05:01:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... around here, pop from a vending machine is anywhere from $1.00 to $1.25... so i guess it's not too much more expensive than normal pop like that. But still... sadly, i don't have the money to spend on importing pop :/ Cuz i'd have to buy several bottles, then pay for shipping... and eh ;.; it would get expensive. Wish it were so common around here as it is in Japan...

and haha i work in a grocery store, and the pop in the employee vending machines in our break room is only $0.40 a can

Wow, impressive sculpts! hehe, I love the amount of detail you got into something soooo smaaalll! So great, and they are sooo cute! Did you end up painting them? Great work! Fave for me!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cricket00fur In reply to MumboJumbo [2005-04-09 16:43:08 +0000 UTC]

I've only painted the rattie so far. I've been working on more sculptures instead of painting the ones i've already done XP Very smart. I'm just stacking up the work for myself, as normal x.x [link] shows the sculpture i've been working on. That one rat in the middle is fully finished now, and baked. I just need to start painting it tonight after work.
Same with the froggie. He is fully baked too now...

cricket00fur In reply to fala [2005-04-10 16:04:26 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, thank you. Painting isn't nearly so fun as sculpting them though... so.. they might just sit for a while and collect dust x.x

fala In reply to cricket00fur [2005-04-10 16:34:43 +0000 UTC]

aww paintings the fun part for me XD... Oh a niffy little trick, after you paint them you can get thise stuff called"mod podge" make sure it's the "gloss-luctre" kind and put it on noses, hoovles, horns, etc and it will dry and be shinny over the color! Or you can just covered everything with for shinny looks >.>

Did you bake the sculptures? if so did you do it with the marles in them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cricket00fur In reply to fala [2005-04-11 02:28:41 +0000 UTC]

Ah, i finally did get some gloss coat for my sculptures the other day. Its not what you suggested, but it works very well ^^ Cowtato has glossy eyes and such now. I don't care enough to upload photos though XP

Eh, didn't really seem to take all that long to make them. Prolly just cuz i was really into my work though XP I dunno.. if i had to guess, i'd say right around an hour for each on the marble...

DUde thoes are so freaking cute! Your using the other sculpty right? I use the white one, hows the other one work? Does it paint alright? WOW you pay $10 for 1lbs, I only pay 6.99 for a 1.75lbs O.o;; At AC Moore

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cricket00fur In reply to AirRaiser [2005-04-08 16:22:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, i use super sculpey. I have just plain sculpey too. I like it a lot for it's skin tone ^^ lol Makes rats' fleshie areas much easier, and less stuff to paint lol. It doesn't get as warm and melty so quickly as i recall normal sculpey doing. But it blends and smooths really well. I dunno, i like them both.. XP

Senus [2005-04-07 07:18:11 +0000 UTC]

Wow Crickeet! I love them! I wanna squoosh them. May I take them home with me and rape them? I love the detail. I once tried to make a 'sculpture' out of playdoh...don't ask how it turned out >.> ;; The fact that you managed to make them look like they're supposed to and add such detail to something so little is 'mazing. You must to finish colouring soon so we can all gawk in their glory! Oh yes, and to rape too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cricket00fur In reply to Senus [2005-04-08 16:26:06 +0000 UTC]

No, no raping! I've told you this before! You might break them! Go rape a leaf or something instead
Playdoh isn't really the best thing to attempt sculptures with. You should try some real clay! Get some Sculpey *noddles and chews on your happy leg again*

Senus In reply to cricket00fur [2005-04-09 03:35:07 +0000 UTC]

Awww. I've raped enough leaves ;--; I want to rape them! -Throws a tantrum-

Yah, I know, it's so smooshy and hard to manipulate. Sculpey's real expensive, and I can never be bothered going out to find the nearest art store xD

Oh my god, these are SO awesome. They're very beautiful. I kind of like how they look unpainted, actually! :3 But seriously, they're so adorable! And so tiny, wow. I think my favourite is the kangarooooo.

cricket00fur In reply to Azzua [2005-04-07 06:54:45 +0000 UTC]

I love that roo too. He turned out well. I was about to smush him and attempt it again at one point.. But i was like "mebbie i can fix this... *pokeprod*" and it worked n.n
Many people tell me they are good enough unpainted.. but to me, they're kinda like inked drawings at that stage. Presentable, but still not a finished idea. *must paint* XP It brings out a lotta detail too.. Camera doesn't catch as much when they are one solid colour like this.

Anyhow n.n Thank you for the comment! Glad you found them enjoyable

Awesome idea-using the glass. I like the rat one best though. You ought to do more of these. Also, if you'd like...I'll be the first to commission a miniature from you for one of my rat char. Scritch. As those whome I commission know...I can be real easy to get along with and don't mind wild changes along the way. Let me know via DA note if you're interested.
