First in my series of 100 art challenge prompts! This was themed "dying" so I went with a very dramatic scene from the backstory of one of mine and my sweet sis 's roleplay (set in the JFF verse of the defunct WALL-E Forum). A cacophonic nightmare of indifference and superficiality surrounds Janine the black-backed jackal as her lover Dennis dies in her arms, much to the general indifference of a trafficked space-port.
I had lots of fun drawing this piece!! I took special care with the inking and I think the effort really shows. I loved using the comic book style to convey the hell that surrounds Janine and Dennis as they spend their last moments together; everything around them is a buzz, a blur of voices, lives, unaffected by the silent drama unfolding among the pariahs of society - animal experiments and mercenaries. It was also interesting to design Dennis's wounds in a way that made for believable internal and external damage, rather than just random blood stains all over. And silver fur is a lot easier to coor than regular fur, which is a def bonus. All in all - happy with how it turned out.

But also so, so sad.
